Great, a recommended sentence of 0-6 months for paying off someone who he probably victimized sexually as a high school coach and teacher.

^^^Nope, he was charged with structuring to avoid bank reporting. He also wasn't charged with lying to the FBI, which he clearly and blatantly did. It's nice to have friends in the system and dirt on other big names.

Hastert is, was, and always has been a sleazeball.

Can someone explain how shutting down one's healthcare exchange will benefit Joe the Plumber or Billy Bob in the trailer park? This seems to be a big thing for tea-baggers and mainstream conservatives. I just can't see the logic of how this will benefit those average citizens or even the average local small business owners.

Do they expect their insurance rates to halve without the exchange?

I could totally see some of the GOP loons I.e. Ted Cruz writing a modern day Mein Kampf

Replace Jews with Arabs/blacks, add love for Jesus and Christian law, and use paranoia of turrists attacks to justify surrendering privacy, and instead of living space promise lots of cheap oil and F150 trucks to all able bodies men

As one man was dragged away, people in the crowd variously yelled, "Shoot him!" "Kick his ass," and "Light the motherf—-r on fire!"

A large middle aged man shouted, "Sieg heil!" — a Nazi Germany-era salute — as the protester was taken away. The man, whose motives were not clear, was far enough from the stage that it was unlikely Trump heard the remark

^^ polls show widespread disagreement with how we are handling terrorism, widespread fear of terrorism, and it's easy to stoke this fear for votes.

It's harder to generate fear about inequality or economic malaise from regressive policies.

Its coming from fear. Americans are scared of the tiniest threat and willing to do anything to feel safe. 50% of americans support a trump muslim ban. If trump was only anti muslim and not anti women, as well as anti hispanic, he'd win in a landslide.

He's one more terror attack away from the presidency.

It's not fear itself, it's fearful leaders and media personalities. It's possible to face fear with courage and bravery, as Obama, Hillary, Sanders, Rand, and even Jeb have demonstrated.

You could argue the politicians are feeding the people but i think the people are feeding the politicians because even in certain areas where polticians aren't taking advantage of people's fear on the issue, it is typical for americans to have irrational fear of things that aren't really that dangerous.

Sharks and Flying are two good examples. One could also blame the media but I blame the people and the bad education system.

A really in depth analysis on what the GOP imploding then rebuilding might look like. Basically rather than focus entirely on rhetoric surrounding cutting government except what bolsters "the rich", focus on rhetoric surrounding middle class stability.

http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/270423-gop-judiciary-no-hearing-on-obama-court-nominee

1. They could vote the nominee down.

2. No one has even been nominated yet.

3. It's the current president's responsibility.

Does it piss you off because we have a system of divided government and another co-equal branch is asserting its authority under the constitution advising the executive branch they won't allow a vote? Or just bc the president is part of your tribe which means he has to be right? Why hold a vote/hearings if they have no intention of consenting to a nominee?

I'm not sure what being a grown ass professional has to do with anything. Nowhere in the constitution does it assert the Senate must take any action on a SCOTUS nominee. Voters also elected a Republican majority in the Senate in 2014, wouldn't it be the same fuck you to them if the Senate consented to a nominee?
