Let the people decide... when they can finally make the right choice by voting Republican. lol

Hell, let's just let the SCotUS wither away to nothing. Anyway:

McCain walks back pledge to block Clinton Supreme Court nominee:

But you know it's going to be more of the same.

I don't know if the CATO Institute qualifies as part of the GOP, but there's this:

Not really worried about this, as long as the Dems win the Senate, Schumer will nuke the filibuster for SCOTUS nominees just like Reid did for the federal district courts.

"Tammy Duckworth was born in Bangkok, Thailand, to Franklin and Lamai Duckworth. Her American father, who died in 2005, was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who traced his family's American roots to before the Revolutionary War. Her Thai mother is of Chinese ancestry."

"She also pointed to the fact Kirk exaggerated his military service on his campaign website, describing himself as a "veteran of the Iraq War," while he only served in the Navy Reserves and was never deployed.

"Senator Kirk has been caught lying about his military record over ten times, but he was quick to launch false attacks questioning Congresswoman Duckworth's family's long history of serving our country. A struggling political campaign is no excuse for baseless and despicable attacks, and Senator Kirk owes Congresswoman Duckworth and her family an apology," Sisselman said."

Racists shitheads like Mark Kirk were spewing their bullshit as Republicans long before Trump so maybe this will help dispel the notion that Trump hijacked the party and we can stop mourning the death of "intellectual conservatism" like that was a thing at any point in the last 25 years

^^^ You should read some of Bill Moyer's commentary during the Carter/Reagan election of '80.

He said the same exact shit that you and the Democratic party are spewing today concerning the Republican party. "They're all racists, they hate women, a vote for Reagan is a vote for resegregation and bigotry and sexism yadda yadda.

Your schtick is old and tired. Find something new. Reagan handed it to Carter, yet the world didn't end.

I'm not saying Trump is anything close to Reagan, and I'm not defending Trump here - he's said some pretty racist things, and I fully support the fact that he's a sexist. I'm just defending the party.

Find some new complaints.

With all the upcoming impeachment hearings, investigations, etc., it really is unfair to expect Congress to give up or down votes on judicial nominations.

Republicans had a huge shift in their perspective of the economy, while democrats had a big shift, just from the election.

Absolute worst part is all the statements along the lines of "the office needed reform" or even worse "we need more due process against allegations, etc.".

How god damn stupid do they think we are that we might eat that bullshit? It's insulting as hell. Jack Abramoff, an actual scandal!!!!, was not that long ago.

Of course none of this outrage will matter. Conservatives, in their gerrymandered districts will refuse to hold their representatives accountable. Mostly because they are too worried about faked abortion videos or ACORN or Operation Jade Helm or whatever bogus stupid shit that they are currently hysterical about.

Of course, we all know they will just start knocking each other up at 16 and raise more idiots.

Since the ACA was too long to read before passing it, I'm assuming that the GOP is releasing a draft of their replacement plan any minute so everyone can review it?

I mean where are the Republican voters at? It's no surprise that the politicians are unprincipled, but back during the days of debt ceiling fights the tea party created enormous amounts of pressure on GOP congress people. It's like without Freedomworks or Heritage setting up AstroTurf campaigns all of these people just vaporized off the earth (one can wish) or stopped having an opinion on the matter.

Or maybe these folks were never principled to begin with and just blindly hated Obama.

Remember Obama inherited a $1.4 trillion federal budget deficit which had been reduced to below $500 billion by 2015. Hell, Obamacare itself has saved the federal government hundreds of billions in healthcare spending since it's passage and was projected to save trillions more, while ensuring the solvency of Medicare for decades. On the budget, like so many other issues, Obama would have been deified by "principled conservatives" if not for the (D) next to his name (or the color of his skin).

Don't worry guys, Jason Chaffetz is on top of any potential ethics problems going on.

He's called the Federal Ethcis Chief to Congress to get an expert opinion on the potential conflicts of interest the president-elect has with his businesses chastise him for commenting on Trump.

That Ethics Chief fella seems pretty sharp to me (between the tweets to Trump last month and his more recent rant, they were both SPOT ON). Seems like there is a decent chance he could rip Chaffetz a new butthole. #prayers

this is one of those problems that the solution is too unpopular to ever happen so we will keep kicking the can down the road. Once interest rates inevitably go up we going to be pretty screwed tho

^oh i agree. i think we should freeze spending at current levels until the budget balances and then keep it balanced. its immoral to force future generations to pay for our benefits. its basically like buying a house and putting your grand kid's name on the mortgage note

Referenced in the President Trump credibility watch thread, the CBO's and JCT's estimates for the Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act of 2015, which was passed by Congress and vetoed by President Obama:

Quote :
"The number of people who are uninsured would increase by 18 million in the first new plan year following enactment of the bill. Later, after the elimination of the ACA’s expansion of Medicaid eligibility and of subsidies for insurance purchased through the ACA marketplaces, that number would increase to 27 million, and then to 32 million in 2026.

Premiums in the nongroup market (for individual policies purchased through the marketplaces or directly from insurers) would increase by 20 percent to 25 percent—relative to projections under current law—in the first new plan year following enactment. The increase would reach about 50 percent in the year following the elimination of the Medicaid expansion and the marketplace subsidies, and premiums would about double by 2026."
