I want a rain jacket for rainy days in summer that won't make me sweat like a whore in church. Can anyone recommend something waterproof but lightweight and breathable?

any of those with a waterproof breathable membrane. they cost more but are worth it. rei, marmot, arcteryx, and a bunch of other brands all make them. i wouldn't buy the north face just on principle.

multisport breathable http://www.rei.com/search?cat=4500264&cat=4501456&hist=cat%2C4500264%3AWaterproof+Jackets+and+Pants^cat%2C4501456%3AMultisport+Breathable

ultra lightweight breathable http://www.rei.com/search?cat=4500264&cat=4501457&hist=cat%2C4500264%3AWaterproof+Jackets+and+Pants^cat%2C4501457%3AUltralight+Breathable

i've had the marmot precip jacket and the llbean version of the same, and really like the llbean one better. the nylon out the outside seems to be more durable plus it's cheaper and you can return llbean stuff at any time for any reason no questions asked. i think rei has a similar policy too. the nylon on the marmot one started to crack, but that was after about 5 years of use...

http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?categoryId=58537&storeId=1&catalogId=1&langId=-1&parentCategory=504721&feat=504721-tn&cat4=504714

Fumbler has a $300 arcteryx one, and i personally don't think you need to spend that much money on something like that. the $100 ones, or even $200, work just fine imo. some have a super thin mesh that covers the membrane that makes it a little less sticky feeling if you have that problem.

I have to agree. Their stuff looks to be well-made but unfortunately the brand carries too much of a douchebag connotation.

The LL Bean one looks like a good candidate. I agree that $300 is too much to spend on something I would only use when it rains. My waterproof Barbour was nearly $500 with the insulated liner but I wear it rain or shine autumn through spring.

Wait, don't whores sweat in church for other obvious reasons not having to do with the article of clothing they are wearing, or not wearing?

Oh wait, that's what you meant.

Oh yeah, I forgot not to ever suggest something that a lot of people like to wear because heaven forbid you like something other people like.

^^^^i don't like the north face. in addition to the snotty frat boy-ness that's associated with it, ever since they became popular enough to sell at Dick's their quality has gone flying downhill.

i can roll my eyes too

is recommended.

Be careful with some of these "light weight" rain jackets. Some are just unlined nylon with taped seams and maybe some kind of coating. Those will keep you dry in light rains and drizzles but will just get soaked in any kind of substantial rain.
