anyone into high end headphones- I got a pair of Ultrasone DJ1 (same internals as HFI580) for Christmas, but it seems like the bass is very low or nonexistent for a pair that is reputed to be a basshead set. I am using a Fiio E5 amp on bass boost and bass boost on my ipod touch... is there other way to amplify the bass??

I already have the DJ1 now... I guess I'm wondering if anyone else has these headphones, and if they have a powerful, punchy bass as I've read in some places? Because mine do not, was wondering if I got a defective batch or something?

Have you tried listening to a cd? An iPod touch isn't a great source to be using with high level headphones.

No, but even if it is somewhat muddy bass, wouldn't at least the power be there? I can crank it all the way (using my Fiio amp) to the point that the treble is painful to my ears, and the bass increases linearly... but this requires a LOT of amplification. i know the Beats arent really respected much among the audiophile community, but they really rocked my head with bass... these DJ1, which I thought would also be a powerful bass can, is barely anything better than my skullcandy earbuds. which is why I think mine are defective

I know nothing about the headphones you have, but where were they made? Might be your first clue...

As long as its not Taiwan, I guess...

The box says that they were made in Taiwan. But the company is based in Germany... what's the difference between manufacturing companies?

I have some grado SR325's I'm looking to sell. First I need to ship them back to get the wiring fixed I think. Got some Grado PS500's as well. Awesome cans.

I consider myself a serious audiophile (I mean more serious than 90% of audiophiles) and I only use Beats audio. Why? Because they ARE the best. I use gold plated wires for everything to squeeze every last drop of quality out of my music.

When I'm on the go, I have a pair of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Beats-Tour-High-Resolution-Headphones-Monster/dp/B001MS7JDK

I abuse the shit out of them and I replace them every 6 months, but it is fucking worth it!

Every time I use them it's like my ears are popping the cherry for the first time! It is orgasmic.

People who trash Beats's headphones are just wanker wannabe audiophiles. I always tell them that you can't even think about considering yourself an audiophile if cost every crosses your mind.

MP3. LOL!

It's called FLAC. You know, a lossless audio codec? It's funny you think I would even consider using MP3.

I like my Ultimate Ears that I got recently on a lightning deal with Amazon. However, I, too, am looking for in ear and great for travel headphones (biggest key as I'm 75-90% travel now). The Ultimate Ears and Klipsch S4 are the best I've heard in terms of in ear/noise isolating headphones for under 200 so far. Next year, I plan on upgrading to something truly worth it and am looking for early suggestions .

You realize that Apple has most of their parts for their computers and iPhones made in China? If they can make the best phones in the world, they can make the best audio equipment in the world too.

I like to think I know good sound, and damned if these $10 Sony earbuds I have aren't the best earbuds around. They may sound a little flat out of the box, but boosting the bass and treble with an equalizer will fix that. They are capable of more bass than you'll likely want, and it's pretty tight. Give those a try and it might save you $$$. After all, you're listening to mp3s, and even with these I can usually discern differences in bitrate. Good high-end headphones would probably emphasize the lack of quality further.

They are the 2nd-to-last and last results on this page. The difference is the one has the case and silver finish:

Have the Bose QuietComfort 15s. Good sound and does a really good job of noise cancellation. Drawback is the batteries but a really solid purchase.

They do not make the best phones in the world sir.

Go to Japan, their shit is 10x better. This is why iPhone failed there because it looks like a toy compared to the tech they already have. Although, they spend $700+ on a phone.

This is probably the most baffling thread I've ever encountered. You have to sit back and contemplate why people would think to say things like what's been said in this thread. Do people really think this way? The Beats Audio dude, though it wouldn't be explainable if it weren't a huge troll otherwise, do you honestly think those headphones aren't overpriced pieces of shit, and that you're paying for a branding and ad campaign?

Never been so baffled here.

honestly, there's no point in upgrading from apple's earbuds. the extra sound quality is negligible and the human ear can barely perceive the difference.

^^^ Dude, do you even know what the fuck you are talking about? Have you even listened to them? Or are you just going based on the assumption that because Dr. Dre is behind the branding that it garners the price tag that it does and that they are otherwise pieces of shit that can't hold a candle to your piece of shit Sennheiser, Bose, Sony and Skull Candy earphones/buds? Damn, even read delon's post. He even praises them. It's people like you who write something off because someone's name is behind it. If it was just "Beats" with no Dre behind it or anything like that, people would be all over it. But because Dre's name is behind it, people just write it off as being overpriced shit.

You basically started out your conversation here being pissed that people aren't interested in your Beats Audio crap. Do you realize how ridiculous you're acting? I guess not, since you have headphones that say Dr. Dre on them...

This is literally in your first post here:

I think calling him a troll is dismissive. I think he's serious. He seriously believes those things he typed.

I bet this kid goes to Best Buy regularly, so perhaps he should have read reviews about Farts audio directly from their site:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Beats+By+Dr.+Dre+-+Monster+Pro+Over-the-Ear+Headphones+-+Black/9710711.p?skuId=9710711&id=1218156155309#tabbed-customerreviews

Also,

Quote :
"On 14 November 2011 Dre announced that he will be taking a break from music once he has finished producing for artists Slim the Mobster and Kendrick Lamar. In this break he'll work on bringing his Beats By Dre to a standard as high as Apple and will also spend time with his family."

Totally a laff.
