Krispy Kreme Challenge 2008 this Saturday, register today!

submitted by angel02 on Monday, January 21 at 1:52 PM

Come one, come all to the 4th annual Krispy Kreme Challenge this Saturday, January 26th, 2008 at 9 a.m.

The Krispy Kreme Challenge requires you to run 2 miles from the NCSU Bell Tower to the Krispy Kreme Donut shop on Peace Street, eat one dozen donuts and then run 2 miles back to the Bell Tower, all in under one hour.

The Krispy Kreme Challenge is open to everyone; even those not brave enough to consume 12 donuts. You can enter as a challenger, as a casual runner, or you can just come out to lend your support and to have a good time. There are team categories and prizes offered for those with the wildest costume.

All proceeds from the Challenge will go to benefit the NC Children's Promise at the North Carolina Children's Hospital. The registration fee is only $15 for all runners and includes a tee shirt and donuts. Supporters can register for $10 to receive an event tee shirt. You can also donate money directly without participating. Go to http://www.krispykremechallenge.com to register and donate today.

For more information and discussion visit the official website or post in this thread.

Register today to help out a deserving cause and to have a great time!

I was asked to post a portion of my post from the thread about this here, hoping to describe the goal on a personal note. I am more than glad to:

I spent an evening at the NC Children's Hospital a few months ago supporting the yearly radio/telethon. My younger sister's best friend was a patient there just a year ago and we lost her to double lung cancer at the young age of 19 only weeks later. Seeing the work that's done there - and the families affected by it - will change your life. So many of the patients are being treated for awful diseases beyond their control (like cancer) - so everyone who can, please consider signing up to participate or just donating. It truly does make a world of difference.

I'm so proud to have been one of the inaugural runners!

Well... at least the first year you publicized it. I think there were what, 140 of us?
