Last Week to Register to Vote in Wake Co.!

submitted by Alina11481 on Saturday, October 2 2004 at 4:17 PM

In these difficult and changing times, NC State students have a chance to influence the direction of America by voting on November 2nd. Apathy among voters aged 18 - 30 was at an all-time high last presidential election: over 68% of all eligible young voters did not vote. Our elected officials base their decisions on the desires of the groups of people who vote for them. As long as our generation keeps up the apathetic attitude, our politicians will continue to ignore our concerns.

This election is to be a political moment of historic importance for our great nation and for the world; our generation needs to be a key part of that history. Voter registration ends this coming Friday, October 8, in Wake County. The College Democrats will be holding a voter registration drive in the Brickyard Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week.

Any student, on or off campus, is legally eligible to vote. If you are not registered to vote or if you would like to change your voting registration to Wake County (so that you can vote at school instead of traveling home on election day), please stop by our booth and fill out a voter registration form. Registration takes less than five minutes, and there will be plenty of student volunteers to answer any questions about the voting process.

http://declareyourself.com/ has all the info online that you need to register to vote online. Generally, it's a bit of a hassle, so I'd encourage people to just do a paper ballot.
