I make a special exception for the new branded coffee mugs the company gave us. Those I wash and hide in my cabinet. I have a big collection now."

This seems like something I would have seen on The Office in an opening scene. Like, Andy narrates this and then opens his drawer to show it filled with Dunder Mifflin mugs.

At this age, I have zero patience for people that can't clean up after themselves...including my wife. I give me 1.5 year old son a little bit of slack, but daycare has done a good job of teaching him how to clean up.

same. On a similar level of annoyance are people who are too important to take the time to put their cart away in the parking lot. A few weeks back, a car two spots over from me in their Macan put their groceries away and then just put their cart in the empty parking space between the two of us, despite the fact there is a cart return maybe 5 spots down from my car. I was getting in my car at the time this happened (after having just put my own cart up), so I backed out, drove a few feet and put my car in park behind them, grabbed their cart and walked it over to the cart return. She was honking and then finally got out and realized that I was doing and said "i hope you feel like a hero now". I wish I had the thing on video. I have no problem being an asshole in situations like that.

There are certain cooking situations where that does help a bit. If it cuts some pain in the ass scrubbing for a few minutes, I'll let the pan soak for an hour or two after dinner while we're watching TV. But that means it will be cleaned immediately after that and before we go to bed.

^ All I did was take up the same time it would have taken her to put the cart up in the first place. if that's trolling then so be it. Not like I keyed her car or blocked her in while I shopped or something.

^^ yeah, i felt fairly safe the worst that was going to happen here was that she was going to get pissy.

at the food dog last week i pushed my cart into the return and it hit one of those shorter carts causing it to tumble forward 180 degrees and land upside down. i started walking back to my truck and theres a food dog employee giving me stink eye. he's picking it up as a drive off.

100% same. If I make a lasagna or something in the crock pot, I have no issue letting those soak while I watch TV or shower. But they will be done before bed.

I am one of those people who sees the dishwasher as a sanitizer and will not put in dishes with food stuck on them.

"I'll become the second humble bragger with a 200K plus income, but the confession is more about how it changed me.

So, I ,too, will make more than $200K this year -$214K to be precise- but I don't feel rich. I don't feel like I have so much money that I could do anything I want. I also only live in a home that cost about ~320K, so my money out isn't due to high consumption. I remember when I made 70K, I thought I had so much money and told myself that when I'd hit $120K that I wouldn't need anything more that I'd feel unreasonably wealthy. That said, even though reaching this point hasn't changed my purchasing habits or how I view myself as part of the middle class, it has taught me that how wealthy you feel is more about how much of your income you spend.

Simply put, when I made $70K, I spent more of my income. Now, I save much of the money I have to go toward kid's college funds, paying off my house more rapidly, maximizing retirement, and building a nest egg. I get that these are protections that most Americans cannot afford to set up but in a way it is as if I'm paying any other bill. As a democrat, I used to vilify those who made $250K - rich bastards!!!!- but now I view them as people who may be living rather simply. I also live in Raleigh, so people with that degree of income in the bay area or NYC or Seattle, are certainly not titans of industry.

While I have maintained my points of view on taxation- I make more and am okay paying a higher percentage of federal income taxes- I no longer view those who make high incomes as de facto rich bastards popping bottles left and right. I still support the government programs I always have but now view that there should be more balance between income tax and consumption tax.

Probably the most boring confession in this thread and a better post for soapbox but "

"i have a very nice home, a giant retirement fund, a college fund for my children, and savings on top of that, but i'm just living simply, these are just bills and not massive advantages over most other people"

consumption tax is effectively just a higher tax on the poor because it represents a larger percentage of their income. unless this person is talking about taxing yachts.

lifestyle creep is a thing, but it doesn't mean you aren't rich, or are "living simply"

"So, this might qualify as a good one.

Been doing the internet dating thing for a bit, with varying amounts of success. Been swapping messages for a bit with this one woman, and after a couple days decided to meet for coffee over the weekend. Date goes really well, wound up sitting and chatting for about three hours. Conversation was great, we have a good ven diagram worth of similar interests, I find her attractive. End of the date comes and I walk her out to her car, like a damn gentleman, and we go in for the kiss. Good chemistry there too, so all-in-all one of my better experiences with online BS.

So we're swapping messages after the date, and kind of out of the blue asks if she can call for a chat. 'Sure!', I say so she calls. We chit chat for a few minutes, kind of an awkward pause and she said there was something she really wanted to tell me. Pregnant pause, while I'm wondering if she's engaged, married, and whatnot and then she comes out and tells me that she's Trans. So, I'm kind of floored. I had no idea how to respond to this, so I kind of gloss it over without being too committal about how I feel about it, we chit chat a bit more and the call ends. Not much more communication in the day or so since.

I'm honestly not sure how to approach this. I really like(d?) this girl. And while I would have preferred her to let me know leading up to or at least on the date I'm not particularly upset over the fact that she didn't. I suppose it's more of an issue where I don't know how I feel about her being Trans and how (or if) this association can go forward."

This is a very, very, very good one, and I'm stressing that because I don't want anyone to be a fucking shitheel about the content of it, because being shitheels about confessions is a good way to not get good confessions anymore.

wipe the pan when it's still hot, or if it's really baked onto the pan just leave it on the burner and deglaze it with some water. if you clean while you cook you don't have dishes to do

She walked me through a bit of her process so far when she 'broke' the news.

She's undergoing(gone?) Hormone Replacement Therapy; also Rhinoplasty, and electrolysis. Up next is breast augmentation in the next few months.

She does want to undergo SRS, but that's obviously a very cost prohibitive venture that's rarely (if ever) covered by insurance. So the plumbing is as originally installed."

I've got nice pans, so I don't even want to fuck around with the possibility of warping them (cold water, hot pan). I know there's a small possibility of that happening, but I'd rather not risk it. I also like to eat right when I'm done cooking. While I'll clean everything else up to that final pan...I'm perfectly fine with letting a pan or two soak while eating/watching TV. I just don't like an entire sink full of shit to clean afterwards.

like nice heavy stainless pans? they should be fine, it's only an issue if they are cheap thin pans. you're not dunking it under cold water you're using a room temp wet rag or deglazing with water (no different than if you are deglazing with wine).

also if you're wiping down with a rag it doesn't have to be blazing hot, just don't wait till it's cool

if they are ceramic coated you need to be a bit more careful so the coating doesn't crack, but i guess if you've got stuff that stuck to a nonstick pan you messed up

To the guy dating a trans -- I'd say go with it for a while. See how you feel after another date or two. Yeah, some idiots might judge you or think you are gay or something, but at the end of the day you clearly thought this person was a natural born woman, and that is what you were attracted to. And honestly most people likely wouldn't even know if you weren't able to tell.

consider "a trans woman" rather than "a trans"

let's not erase a person's personhood

you wouldn't call me "a cishet," so don't call her "a trans"

^ I completely understand where you’re coming from there because I felt the same way until probably a few months ago, but that’s kind of a prejudiced viewpoint

You’re not dating someone’s genitals, if they identify as female and you think of them that way, the dangly bits don’t make you gay. Most people play with their own dangly bits for fun, it’s not too much of a stretch to play with someone else’s...

Probably the main consideration would be whether you see the relationship lasting and if you’d be okay with adoption since obviously biological kids would be out of the question. But if someone looks and acts like your idea of a female, and otherwise fulfills your relationship goals, no reason not to give it a shot...

This does not necessarily indicate prejudice. If that's just your own sexual preference, that's fine. I'd be curious to know how you'd feel if they were post-op.

Quote :
"ever having twig and berries would be a definite no-go"

This is prejudice. If someone has gone through all the steps to fully transition into their intended gender and you still can't see past them being Trans in the first place, then that's pretty textbook prejudice. You're prejudging a person based on parts and not on who they are as a person.

Put in another context, this is the difference between not wanting to date a smoker because you don't like kissing an ashtray, versus not dating someone because they WERE a smoker once-upon-a-time even if they've since quit.

To the confessor. You do you man. Or woman...I don't see where they specified. Try a couple dates, definitely have a few in-depth talks, and see how things progress.

It's not like I'm without the desire to do so, but I reached a point where I would do it just to kill time and was doing it about 4x a week. I'm married with kids now and the thought of sneaking off to parts of the house to masturbate while I have kids and a wife moving through the house or getting excited about a business trip because I could watch porn as loud as I want to just seemed off to me."
