Porn is about the only reasonable usage of a tablet. Spankwire already kinda has iphone support so i imagine the ipad will.

The point isn't about sites where Flash is "critical", it's about sites that use it as part of their user experience. For instance, news sites. If you want to see the referenced video, gotta have Flash.

When they got into the phone market it was huge because that sector is massive.

The tablet market is non-existant outside some specialized fields (maybe manufacturing, healthcare). And all those specialized fields require styluses and the ability to put whatever applications you want on them.

I think Apple's just trying to bring the tablet form factor to the casual user demographic. In a way, I can see the use of this device. There's lots of times when people just want to browse the web or watch videos, maybe play a casual game. The keyboard doesn't hinder that stuff too much.

If this thing were like $300, I'd probably buy one. At the rumored price of $1000? Uh, no.

Well, to be fair, I imagine the web browsing and video playing experience on this thing is better than your average Netbook. But underpowered in other aspects, yes, I agree.

Kinda the same way here, I'm fairly anti laptop(might as well be at a desktop most times) but would love to have something where I could watch some video or browse in bed, on the couch etc when I'm not at my desk. But for that I want something with a much more open full featured/customizable OS with better software support than just appstore garbage.

As the people who buy it realize its not functional enough to replace their laptop, but too big to carry around everywhere they'll stop taking it out of their home. Then they'll realize they dont care about browsing the web 10 feet from their existing computer so it will become like a digital picture frame or something. Then they'll get tired of charging it all the time or leaving the cable there so it will be retired to their nightstand to be used soley as a porn browsing device.
