Is it still the same size rink? I can't play indoor because of my work schedule. Plus TASL has a $110 firsts, $85 second, and $20 for the rest of your teams payment system.

Indoor requires a lot of running if you're doing it right. It's just more like a basketball game than a soccer game.

One advantage to it though is the weather. We are half way through the season and it is still under 50 degrees for every game.

I was just joking, I've played both. Indoor requires a ton of technical skill, but if you think there's a comparable amount of running in indoor you are out of position 90% of the time in outdoor.

It's a different kind of running. Indoor is a lot of sprinting and shorter runs. It's also a lot more constant. Outdoor is a lot of long runs and long sprints with plenty of periods of rest in between.

Its definitely less overall running but more sprinting. I equate it more with hockey than outdoor soccer. Lots of running then subbing out to recoup and then back in. Either way its a lot of fun and i agree can be more technical since people are on you almost immediately and you have to have good control skills and crisp passes.

Give it a try for a season if you haven't or add a night if you have. Could definitely use the players.

^It is fun for anyone who can fit it into their schedule. Sometimes I go to the MVP Sports Factory in Wake Forest for pickup on Fridays. That is a fun place to play too if you work, or live near Wake Forest.

Well I have never been one to score goals, but for the second week in a row I scored in Coed B to put us up 2-0 and then helped with the creation of the 3rd goal to put us up 3-0. Then we gave one up, so I got the game winner tonight! Last week sucked after Tuesday though. I was the GK in Coed Over 30 and dropped one in my own net in a 1-0 loss and scored an own goal in Men's Open C on Saturday in a 5-0 loss. I hope that doesn't happen again.

I know everyone who is/was in TASL no longer posts here, but my GK just told me yesterday that he isn't returning. The season starts on Sunday probably. Anyone know a good keeper who wants to play on Saturdays?

If I wasn't already part of a coed team at TASL I would have been down. I'll see if I can think of some other goalkeepers around. Sorry man.

^I was wondering about that. Anyway, Sporting Raleigh was tied at 0-0 at the half after we missed a PK and in our normal tradition we gave up 3 second half goals and lost 3-0. Our roster is full, but we lost our only scoring threat from last season. I think we'll do ok though once our starting lineup actually shows up. Tomorrow and Thursday I have coed games as long as we don't get lightning again.

TNN FC come from behind 2-1 win. Brought on 6 new players and you could see it in the first half, but our skill seemed to come through in the second half and we escaped 2-1, probably coulda won 3-1 or tied 2-2....2-1 is probably fair though. Next week another test. Division II is set to be very competitive this year.

^Sucking! We lost our top scorer on my men's team. This seasons team has scored 2 goals and given up 3+ goals in every game except for a 2-1 come from behind loss. My Coed D4 team tied at 2-2 tonight and is now 2-2-2 on the season. We got the only person who could score in the past back this season. At least this team is doing better than 0-10-0 like last season. My coed Over 30 team is 1-3-1. We lost a game to an average team after two of their girls left at the half. They played down two players and some how came from behind and won. A bs pk call also turned a 1-0 win into a 1-1 draw.

I'm just hoping my men's team has a strong finish. It would be nice if my preferred starting lineup would actually get to play a game together this season. One or two of them are always out.

So today my men's team lost again by a score of 3-2. We only trailed at 3-2. We probably could have won, but I took a knee to the thigh while playing in goal and couldn't move too well after that. I have now scored an injury hat trick. So far this season I have taken a knee to the rib cage and probably cracked a rib in Coed IV, a knee to the eye in Coed Over 30, and now a knee to the thigh in Men's Open IV. It hurts to move my leg now. I'M SO READY FOR TASL TO BE OVER FOR NOW!

4-3 loss to FC Rubbish If we lose next week we will finish 0-10-0 for the first time ever. My team can't play defense worth a damn this year and my entire starting lineup decided to sign up, but not show up. Does anyone else have talented players on their rosters that pay $115 to play on one TASL team, but then only come to 1, or 2 games? I guess that is better than the guys in the past who signed up and came to 0 games.

blew out my hip missing the championship deciding game. TNN wins Division 2 with a win or a tie! 3 point lead playing the #2 team. Huge weekend for us, I'm at a wedding anyway. So where do all the other TWW teams finish after this weekends season finales?

^My Coed IV team will finish 3rd, or 4th out of 8, my Coed Over 30 team will finish middle of the table out of 13, and my men's team is stuck in last. If we lose we will be 0-10-0 for the first time ever. I actually had a pretty good roster built this season, but then my top 7, or 8 players all decided to miss 4+ games each including games against the really shitty teams. Some of those games we had to play with less than 11 players. We suffered some bad injuries too and our biggest scoring threat from last season didn't return. We'll be pretty good in the spring if we can sign one more goal scorer and everyone else actually shows up.

0-2 loss to lose out on the title via 1st tie breaker...and a player got a red card for yelling at one of our own teammates....

Oh well, can't complain 7-2-2 20 points, fewest goals allowed, all in a very competitive 2nd division. Really proud of the team, now let's go and win the damn thing in the spring.

^We had a guy in Coed IV get a yellow card last week because the ref wasn't looking when he heard a player on the other team cuss at our player. He gave our player the card instead, even though he wasn't the one running his mouth.

Ugh! Finishing last in D4 is killing recruiting. So far no one from the pool who is any good has responded to my invites. Oh well, we'll have plenty of players in the end.

btw, I counted 45 teams on the men's open list on the registration page.

TASL Summer Heat 2015 registration is now open

http://www.tasl.us

As for how the spring season is going.

My men's team is getting destroyed most games because we still don't have a goal scorer this year.

I'm the GK on my Coed Over 30 team now because our GK got injured in our first game. We're in second place, but just got shelled 8-1 in our last game. We'll finish top 3 probably.

My other coed team is in 3rd I think.

Ugh! I just got sliced from my second coed team in 4 seasons. I'm not too worried. I have friends in every division of TASL. There are other teams that will sign me. The problem is I will more than likely end up playing on one of the bottom dwellers in our league and my team just finished second.

I'm getting kind of sick of this. It's kind of a jackass move to sign someone, not explain to them that you aren't a part of their long term plan, and then randomly cut them when registration opens and hundreds of players are trying to get the few open spots that are left.

My rule with my men's team is you are out when you quit and can't come back until someone else quits. Or I just don't replace you if I know you are coming back and you are one of the star players.

Maybe you were part of their long-term plan, until they realized you weren't good enough.

If you can't hang on a good team, why not focus on being a helpful player on a bad team? It's beer league, no one else in your life cares if you win or not.

^^Nah, new born babies cause trouble for teams all of the time. I actually started over a lot of people who were my skill level or worse. The problem is one of those guys has a wife on the team, another has a sister on the team, and another one is a co-captain. And there is another set of brothers on the team that are a little better than me. If they cut any of those people then they either don't have enough girls, or lose a lot of important players. I don't have anyone anchoring me to the team.

I've actually been pretty lucky with the men's team I captain. I always have multiple people quit after every season and usually get 3, or 4 on roster that make only half of the games at most. I've never had to cut anyone to let a former long time player come back. The funny thing is my GK who was really good and never missed a game got a DWI and took a season off. The next season I signed another GK who came to every game. Then the old GK wanted to come back and said he would be nice and play on the field. Since then both GK have missed multiple games every season and it has worked out perfect. One is usually out when the other is there.

Then you have my other coed team. That captain has actually signed too many players in the past because he doesn't cut people to let former players return, but yet 1, or 2 will every now and then.

Quote :

It is. In the past my men's team had some 1 win seasons which resulted in someone else stealing half the players to form their own team. On top of that, when you lose too much no one in the player pool wants to sign with your team. My team wouldn't exist if 4, or 5 people from tww hadn't signed up for season 2. Once you are no longer on a team and need to find one, you get your name tossed in a player pool of over 100 names. Most people sign up friends and family, so the odds aren't good when you are trying to find a team through the pool.

My Monday captains are stupid. They signed me right after registration opened and somehow ended up with 26 players on roster because people kept signing up. They thought the rosters would just lock after so many players signed up and after so many days passed. So now I lost 20 dollars. I'm not driving to the soccer center to play 10 minutes. 23 players were going to be there tonight.
