Here are my comments that I copy/pasted from an email that I sent him.

Quote :
"I was actually surprised at how straight forward the language is given how many people complain about the der die das part. In reality, it is a language of grammar rules featuring no exceptions and easy pronunciations. However, It does not sound like you will be there long enough to get balls deep into learning German.

The food was a big disappointment, tbh. It is not seasoned or spiced in a way that you would be use to as an american, and it generally features some sort of meat that is either boiled or baked (or raw) and served on a plate with mustard, salad, and some form of starch. Be prepared to eat and see a ton of carbohydrates.

The beer is good, but not as mind-blowing as I anticipated. Again, the Germans don't flavor and spice things like we are used to, so the beer lacks variety and is very bland, but it is easy to drink and always fresh."

I forgot to mention that he should try Mettbrötchen.

^thanks! got in late tonight but hit up many of the more famous beer halls. It's a bit chilly to surf the river, which is crazy considering how hot it's been in my previous trips to Europe in the summer. We really only have tomorrow left (our fight out is the day after at 6pm) and we really want to watch the Germany match with the locals at 4pm here (my cousin is studying abroad in Bremen for Summer II) so as much as I want to get out to the castles I don't think we'll have time.
