So I just added up all the credits to my account marked "travel credit $300/year" to make sure I had spent that (if not, was going to buy a delta gc before midnight). Current total is $367, and that's not including the one credit that's showing up under pending charges from last night's uber ride. Is this a glitch?

^That most likely will post to the 2017 travel credit. Once your December statement posts, everything else goes to the following year. So if you bought that Delta giftcard, it would apply to 2017

Hopefully not. I just bought a GC tonight for the same reason. Just got a refund on an uber ride a couple of nights ago. It doesn't indicate year, just travel refund.

I guess I'll find out.

Quote :
"Q: How often does the $300 annual travel credit apply?

A: You can take advantage of the $300 credit once per calendar year, based on your billing cycle. So charges that apply to your December 2016 billing period will count toward the 2016 credit, while those (also made in December) that apply to your January 2017 billing period will count toward your 2017 credit. If you sign up for the card now, you’ll be eligible to receive credits in 2016 and 2017, even if you haven’t yet been billed for 2017’s annual fee."

Just landed in sfo and enjoying my time in their centurion lounge.
Spending 4 nights at Grand Wailea Beach Resort - A Waldorf Astoria Resort on Maui, followed by 3 at Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa, and then 2 at a Hyatt in Honolulu.
All were free including airfare.

Just booked my first ever business class award with miles, going to Munich this summer. Can't believe there are people that pay $7k one way for a flight.

Still working on my citi aa biz card but since I have to cancel some cards tomorrow I figured I'd apply for a few more today.

Went for my 8th citi card, aa personal since I finally crossed the 24 month mark and got approved after calling the recon line.
Applied for my 4th alaska card (2nd biz) and I'll have to call the recon line tomorrow.
I'll probably apply for the Barclay AAdvantage Aviator Red once I cancel my Wyndham since it seems near impossible to get more than 2 Barclay cards at a time.

Fucking awesome!!! Got free bike rentals, tennis, room upgrade, champagne, and chocolates. The hotel also felt a little less commercial than Maui which was nice. Was able to bike to town and found a cool bar nearby for happy hour. Would highly recommend...

Looks like Chase now has a Chase Ink Business Preferred. 80k points for 5k spending in 3 months. 5x points for Internet, cable and phone dropped to only 3x which also includes travel, shipping, social media advertising. No bonuses for Office Supply Stores or gas like the Ink Plus.

Yeah the lounges vary but I've been to some super nice ones and some not so nice ones. Aside from DIA they've been at every airport I've been too. On average they're pretty nice. Free beer, snacks, and a quite place to work is always a plus. Plus you get to take a guest in with you.

The only one I've been to was a Delta one (maybe in Denver) and it was great. Open bar and finger foods had good selections.

^That's nice. The official Amazon Store card is already 5% cash back but it's only cash back. Is the Chase Amazon card Chase points back? That would make it enough for me to switch.

Chase still lists 3% on their website, where do you see 5%?

It's a no-brainer for me to switch if its 5%

On Chases's website:

Now I'm confused between the Chase Amazon Card and the Synchrony Amazon Store card. They need to only have one.

My debate is whether to switch from the Amazon Synchrony Store Card (which gives you 5% credit back) to the Chase Amazon Card which now gives you 5% with Prime. I can't determine whether the Chase card gives you 5% points back that you could transfer to your Ultimate Rewards account. If so then it's a no-brainer. Chase points >>>> cash.

They are points

Also I noticed that with the amazon card you can use your chase points on amazon 100/$1, other chase cards on amazon are only 125/$1 (i don't know why anyone would use it like this)

^Yeah considering you can get 1:1 cash back with Chase points then use on Amazon I'm not sure why you would do that.

This probably has been covered here, and might be a dumb question, but we are planning a trip to Disney this year for our kids and will be booking through a travel agent. We'll be driving to Florida, so there won't be any airline miles/fees.

We were thinking of opening up a new card, with low/no interest, etc to pay for it. Does anyone know of a card that offers 12-18 months no interest as well as rewards points for booking through a travel agent?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I could research it more, but figured you guys were a good resource

It's typically good practice to save up for a vacation rather than putting it on credit. If you'd like to get points save up the cash, put the trip on the card, then pay off the card. If you don't have the cash to go on an expensive vacation maybe come up with a savings plan first?

Nothing wrong with leveraging no-interest deals, but I don't know of many that offer it for that long of a term, or for general credit card spending.

Never mind, maybe there are some: https://www.nerdwallet.com/zero-percent-credit-cards

Watch the terms and conditions to make sure you stay in compliance.

We've got money in savings, so save the lecture, just looking for a way to get some extra perks, etc. out of the trip which, to my understanding, is the purpose of this thread

it doesnt really need to be 12-18 months no interest. That was just a thought. I'm just not sure if there are cards out there that amp up the offers/perks for travel expenses that go through an agent. If it's just going to be classed as a general expense, then I'll just use a card we already have with cashback bonuses.

I actually just signed up for Chase Sapphire today and got approved immediately. Not sure if it's the best thing out there (wish I had gotten in on the 100k miles thing) but it's still worth a good amount and I'll be paying some tuition so the $4k will be easy to just load on there and pay off immediately. It was the best rated on all of the sites I looked at and y'all seemed to like it pretty well.

good point - it's 2.75%. If I don't cover it with normal expenses I can go that route.

Do any of y'all use a third party site like Plastiq to pay mortgage and other large expenses on your credit card to get miles and then just pay that off via your checking each month?

amex everyday does intro 12 months or so zero interest, but I don't know that I'd be using it for annual trips. blispay is another one you can take a look at that offers 6 months no interest (2% cash back).

Plastiq is only really worth it if you're trying to meet a spending bonus since it looks like they've bumped the fee up to 2.5% across the board. Previously, Mastercards were only 2% and they had a promo a while back where if you set up a mortgage/rent payment they dropped the fee to 1.75%.

And you don't think the travel agent's purchases won't qualify as a travel purchase? I think he had that question earlier but I have no idea.

Each bank (Citi, Chase, USB, Amex, Barclay, Cap1 etc. etc.) codes differently for travel related expenses. I know chase codes Uber as travel but Citi does not. Citi doesn't code for the Expedia/Hotwire but I believe Chase may since the Reserved came out. I have no idea about travel agents but I would assume this would be a futher down the line than discount sites like Hotwire. So if you're bank doesn't code discount sites as travel I find it doubtful they will code a travel agency.

Heading to Japan in October on United points (140k for 2 round trip tickets). We're probably doing Tokyo and Kyoto.

Has anyone stayed at the Marriott/Ritz properties? I have some friends who have stayed at the Ritz in Tokyo and Kyoto and have said it's the best experience they've ever had at a Marriott property. I'm debating whether to dump the Marriott points on 10 days at a Ritz or save some and just stay at the normal Marriotts.
