^^^^damn that is awesome. perfect cover almost, those are some talented kids, especially the drummer. It sounded like he was spot on with everything that Danny Carey plays in that song. Very enjoyable, thanks!

yeah, I was really fucking impressed. I know Tool frequently deviates from the typical 4/4 timing in 99% of songs, and was curious on how 46 and 2 was composed.

Quote :
"The song is mostly in 4/4 time with some sections of 7/8 in between. In the intro, Danny Carey plays 4 measures of 7/8 on his ride cymbal over the rest of the band playing in 4/4, and they all meet up on the downbeat of the 5th measure in 4/4. During the bridge there are 3 measures of 7/8 followed by one measure of 4/4. During a particular quad fill, the drums are in 3/8, the guitar plays one measure of 9/8 followed by one in 5/8 all while the bass keeps time in 7/8"

and as a guy who dabbles in guitar at best, this shit blows my mind.

all in the skill of the drummer...and it seems to accompany the bass guitar pretty well.

Depends on your fill ins and ability to sync up, change time, and get back on the same time as the rest of the band.

just a ton of random drumming and knowing the song pretty well to throw in those little time changes.

the 46 and 2 cover was fucking magnificent.

I'm not much on music theory, but it sounded damn good. I also like the vocals: I'd think it'd be difficult to find a non-Maynard vocal style that works with Tool's music, but that chick put a totally different spin on the song and yet still did it justice.
