check etsy for fun unique veils. My dress came with a veil, but I'm stalking etsy for something more fun to wear during the reception.

And registering is AWESOME! but every time I register for towels they discontinue them. All I want are fluffy absorbent gray and yellow towels.

i got my veil off etsy. its just a fingertip length one - very simple. i don't even think i am going to wear it. a friend said i could borrow her veil which i kind of like better. egyeyes, what kind of veil are you looking for? I spent $60 on the veil i got off etsy. my wedding is next weekend so i would be willing to part with it.

registering isn't super fun but receiving gifts in the mail everyday is the only problem is finding where to put all the stuff

11 days we have SO much to do - we need to get our marriage license this week, make the programs, i have to deal with some HVAC issues (again) at my rental property, my hair appointment is today, i have to drop my dress off for one more dress fitting, and my 30th birthday is on Monday

I have been looking on etsy but it's hard for me to buy without actually trying it on with the dress. :/

I don't even know what kind of veil I need.. to be honest.. I went into this all fully intending on not having one. I want it to be short and behind my back (none of that birdcage mess in my face)

I want my bridal shower to be at the Olde English Tea Room in Wake Forest, but it sucks that the website says you can only book two-hour maximums and the max guest count it allows you to select is 35. GRR!!

we did my bridal shower at Sitti and they did a WONDERFUL job. everyone loved the food and the service was excellent. they even gave us the downstairs so we had that entire space to ourselves

we had very good luck with people turning in their response cards quickly. i also might or might have not put the RSVP date on the card 20 days prior to when i really needed to give my final number to the reception place i think i only had to follow up with a handful of folks.

Since our wedding is in New York, I want to represent North Carolina somehow (because this is where we met). Thinking about favors, the hot idea of the moment I have now is Burt's Bees lip balm tins, since they're yellow (one of my wedding colors) and they're made in Durham (where he proposed to me).

These tiny bags are .50 each as well, so I'd place them in there and put a tag on their with our name and date on one side, and an explanation on the other. Thoughts?

I was also thinking of Cheerwine in the fancy glass bottles (with twist-off caps) which are 24 for 21.95 (not bad, price wise!) but the color red will totally clash with everything. In addition, my Egyptian wedding guests will complain that it tastes like cough syrup... they just don't get it, man. lol.

I like those ideas - or if you want something that isn't as sweet as Cheerwine, Pepsi is from NC and they could also do the glass bottles.. You could also get some NC State ice cream, I think - but I don't know how easy that would be to transport

how is pepsi less sweet than cheerwine?

pepsi, while from new bern originally or whatever, is well known around the world. i don't think it'd be a good representation of NC at all.

If you still want to do Cheerwine, contact their customer support. I'm not sure where you are living now, but they were able to give me the number of their distribution center in Greensboro (closest to me), and they'll give you better prices.

Or you could put in a bumper sticker, or a koozie if you don't think your guest will like the taste (which is BLASPHEMY). See the Cheerwine's merch site.

How dare I suggest a soda that might be more well received than Cheerwine

And yes, it's from New Bern.

it may be more well received, but it's not really any less sweet (okay, 41g of sugar per serving instead of 42g, but i doubt that's detectable by most folks) & it's not really something that's known for being a NC product so much, in my opinion. i just didn't think it fit the theme/idea as well.

i like the nabs idea. definitely the neon orange cheese w/ pb variety too

^^Maybe it's just us Eastern NC people who get the Pepsi connection. Lots of neat stuff in the store in downtown New Bern that brings home the birthplace of Pepsi idea.

I actually forgot all about Pepsi being started here.. that's why the new bottles say "BORN IN THE CAROLINAS"

Regardless, like se7entythree said, it's a bit too universal and isn't a stand-out NC product (and, yes, it doesn't go with the theme still)

I'm going to keep looking into this Burt's Bees thing and see what they can do for me. Their wholesale catalog is posted online and I've already emailed them. If they can hook it up on the price then that'd be SWEET! I might even do a jar of NC honey to go in the bag along with it.

What about Sundrop? http://www.drinksundrop.com/history.html That might work with the yellow. Texas Pete also has a bit of yellow in it. Both are NC products.

I love the Burt's Bees idea, just trying to throw some more out there!

I really like the Burt's Bees and little jars of honey idea.

For my family that traveled from outside NC, I made them NC gift bags that are posted a bajillion pages back haha. I filled them with things like Lance's crackers, NC peanuts, Moravian cookies, Cheerwine, etc. The Museum of History downtown has a lot of great little things in their gift shop that aren't overpriced. They helped me out a lot with ordering a bunch of stuff to fill my bags with.

Yay Cass! And awesome pics, Sam!

Here are the invitations I am trying to achieve:

They are ridiculously priced on Etsy so I'm trying to semi-DIY it by having the paper materials printed for me and then tying the twine and attaching the flower. Instead of the browns, it will be in greys, and the twine will be a mustard yellow.

i just used paper notions on etsy to do my table number cards and she did such a fantastic job and turned everything around so quickly. i would definitely recommend.

our invitations were designed by Adger at Sealed with Appeal (http://www.sealedwithappeal.com) and they were very nicely done with a great price. we tied them all with twine ourselves and the result was really good, I think. If you want, I can post pics to give you an idea of the work she did for us. she was featured in The Knot recently as well. check them out if you don't want to pay the wedding paper divas or etsy premium. we used wedding paper divas for our save the dates and were happy with those though.

Just ordered the flowers.. Lord help me.

I don't think I truly know what i'm getting myself into, here.

It's gonna be a lot of man hours and a lot of bribing my friends and family to help me work the egyeyes-weddinginvite-sweatshop in my house.

Now I need to find the perfect boxes.. 5x7 and at least 1.5 inches tall and lightweight. I'm thinking white top and bottom or white bottom with the clear top so that it shows once it's unwrapped (think a box full of Christmas cards)

and she can do them with fall leaves on them for $1 a piece

and these

they are plantable herb seed paper, and I love them!

Our guestbook is going to be a big print of a bare tree with two birds in it, and guests will leave their thumbprints in fall colors on it to make leaves. Hopefully it will all come together and look nice.
