So I live in a country where the internet is censored.Anything anti-government, anti-Islam, and or even remotely sexual, is blocked. How can I overcome this?Currently I connect through a modem, and with the implementation of a new system recently, no username, password, or proxy server is needed. I might be moving on to DSL soon.Anyway, so I how do access the internet, the whole internet?Heck, thewolfweb.com is blocked! They must have come upon the huge amount of sexual material here. Lucky me, brentroad.com is still accessible. But who knows what will happen in the future. Please help. Thanks.

Try some of these or the many many many like them:http://www.space.net.au/~thomas/quickbrowse.htmlif they're all blocked, then you can have someone set up a proxy for you that is allowed by your ISP.

aha, blocked! so, who can help? could i theoretically use the proxy address of, say, a computer from one of the computer labs at ncsu?not a whiz.

what country is your internet being restricted onif you dont mind my asking that is

i would suggest that you vote in government representitives that will relax the restrictions

i'm sure the propaganda minister is appointed by the fuhrer himself

There are a few websites where you can "browse" in. Essentially, you go to the website and they have an area for you to enter the URL you want to go in and it opens as a window within that website. It has worked with my work filter a few times.btw out of curiousity, what would they do if they found out you were accessing material that was supposed to be blocked?
8/24/2005 10:20:37 AM
he already tried those websites at the link above.and they would chop off his nuts.

yeaIraq is run by AmericansI doubt the Internet would be censored there.
8/24/2005 10:48:28 AM
give it a few years, this will be happening here
8/24/2005 10:49:39 AM
careful for trying to bypass it though. I wouldn't want your hand to get chopped off for it though.those countries are pretty damn strict.
8/24/2005 11:04:33 AM
Yes, I am in Saudi Arabia. If they found out, either jail and/or fine me, and then deport me at the end (I am not a citizen).Someone suggested I vote. Haha, you gotta be kidding, right? Where do I vote?OK, so if I tried it, what chances are there that they would find out? Every webpage accessed in this country, passes through some science and technology center run by the government. Would they have have equipment or monitors that could see information coming in to the country through other gates? If they could, does that mean they also monitor some common proxies? Can that be done? I mean, I cannot monitor just any proxy, can I? So what do you think they do?Anyway, my problem hasn't been solved yet.If they do find out and there is a rude knocking on the door, first I will claim innocence. If that doesn't work, I will go through my ordeal, and once I have been deported, I will go the world press and talk shows: to malign SA, and to make me rich and famous also Needless to say, I will sanitize my browser after each browsing session. So, anybody can help?

I would just say that trying to circumvent local laws is not smart.
8/24/2005 6:07:55 PM
first you would have to assume they aren't reading this - as long as you aren't going to any flagged sites you should be fine - they don't have the resources to monitor every site actively
8/24/2005 6:09:11 PM
I'd also suggest not looking at tww nudes if you wanna preserve brentrd.com access
8/24/2005 6:11:50 PM
hmmm interesting.i mainly want to be able to access sites on comparative religion. i bet those are flagged.oh well, i guess i will stick to what i have got.
8/24/2005 6:17:50 PM
dude just drive to Bahrain or something.
8/24/2005 6:21:20 PM
you'll probably want an American friend of yours to set up an encrypted proxy on an odd portanything other than that could feasibly get you arrested, I reckon, including posting on the Internet asking how to circumvent their monitoring and filiteringkeep in mind that if they suspect you, they can still log your encrypted traffic and decrypt it after torturing the key out of you [Edited on August 24, 2005 at 7:56 PM. ^ no, but americans are generally ignorant, and if i got on oprah telling my "sad" tale, i would imagine it would be a sellout show.besides, it IS possible to get whipped for committing "immoral offences", and is definitely possible in this case. that would be taking things too far, wouldn't you agree? i would have a legitimate sensational story then!p.s. ESPECIALLY if i got on oprah, shed a few tears over losing a good job and being cut off from my family, all for something as harmless as reading on the internet about CHRISTIANITY.oh yeah, that would turn people's heads, and i imagine i would have interviews and appearances lined up for me.hmmm, maybe i SHOULD do it, because that's the least emabarrassing way to be kicked out of SA, and also one of the few "non-criminal" ones. then, i can become rich and famous![Edited on August 24, 2005 at 8:39 PM. hahaYou're funny manIf you make it on CNN under a headline like War against Censorship then you'd be golden.[Edited on August 24, 2005 at 8:46 PM. Reason : .]

forward port 80 from a machine in a less shitty country over an ssl connection. it will be encrypted and private if you can find someone nice enough to do it for you. the only issue is speed.
8/24/2005 8:59:28 PM
This is easy.Best anonymous proxy in the world:http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http://www.thewolfweb.com&langpair=en%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8Replace u= variable with your url and you get complete two way anonymous surfing. It "translates" from english to english. so it really doesnt do anything (should display non-english languages in their native tongue as well, if not just change the lang pairs to match)
8/24/2005 10:02:40 PM
HOLY SHIT BATMAN WOLVERINE!!!THANKS NOEN.THANKS GOOGLE.(doesn't display images of course, but i want to read religion websites, so that doesn't bother me)
8/24/2005 10:34:54 PM
thats kinda cool that tww has enough pull to be in other countries now
8/24/2005 11:26:52 PM
wow that is pretty damn clever....
8/25/2005 12:10:26 AM
Hey awesome that lets me look at ytmnd at work.Unfortunately it still won't let me check my squirrel mail.
8/25/2005 7:33:18 AM
^^^ i doubt it!(i used to be at ncsu)
8/26/2005 12:56:03 AM
i think he's referring to the fact that thewolfweb.com is blocked in SA.

"americans are generally ignorant"muslims are generally terrorists.see how igonrance works both ways?personally though, im glad your able to surf the sites you want to now. That kind of cenesorship and relegiously infused laws piss me off to no end.[Edited on August 30, 2005 at 11:19 AM. Reason : cats walk funny on antifreeze!]
8/30/2005 11:18:24 AM
i think he meant ignorant to the controls and censorship in other countries. Which i would say is probably true for the most part.
8/30/2005 11:27:23 AM
this thread begs the question, why do you want to read about christianity?
8/30/2005 2:50:01 PM
perhaps he's "learnding"anyway, trap, if you need a proxy set up, I would recommend someone in a non-restricted country setting up a copy of hand crafted software's "freeproxy" for you, using some SSL encryption and whatnot.also, is it not REALLY hilarious to anyone here that Saudi Arabia's nationwide internet censorship can be outdone by google translation? Anyone?I smell a rat. Perhaps they want to see who will try to hack their way around it and then go after them? I'd be relaly careful with this stuff over there, man. Those fuckers don't screw around, from what I understand.[Edited on August 30, 2005 at 4:30 PM. Reason : l\]

They've got the American companies doing the work for them, if I am not wrong. So, I doubt you could fool them that easily.A persistent SSH/SSL connection with high throughput might make them suspicious too.
8/30/2005 4:40:24 PM
Could always connect a machine in the US (or wherever) using SSH/SSL/Remote Desktop as has been suggested. I'd personally prefer remote desktop, and I'm sure you could find a relative/friend who wouldn't mind leaving their computer on at night ... time zone difference would probably work out.
