Ok, so ive had my 360 for a year or so.... now it starts freezing all of a sudden. It froze like 5 straght times after 10 mins of play or so.

So i have to send it back in. They cant do a repair order right now because their system is doing maintenence, but tomorrow ill be able to....

anyone had to send theirs back in? how long does it take, did they fix it? etc.

mine was manufactured december 9th 2005, so i am within the free-repair zone. :-D

Jesus Christ, I'd almost drop $400 to get a new one myself if it meant not having to listen to Fatboy Slim while I'm on hold.

they said that if they cant fix it within two days, they will send a new one free of charge. Mine was manufactured on 12-9-05, so I am in the "fucked up batch" group. Amazed it lasted this long.

I hope you do know that by "new" they mean "new to you". Getting a refurbished unit doesn't seem so bad to me after a year of use but getting one after 1.5 weeks of use is wrong IMO (never bying HP again ).

it says on the back of your 360 when it was manufactured. Do they not come with a media remote now? I got one in mine, also.

i've heard they are prett quick with shipping...like 1-2 weeks from the time you send it to them you'll have it/a new one back

course you could always try taking it to walmart

i wonder if walmart would let you swap hdds though

mine crapped out over the summer. took about 2 weeks from the time i shipped it to them and got it back.

the one they sent me would finally turn on and not freeze...but it wouldn't recognize or play any discs i put in it.

so i had to send it back for another 2 weeks until they finally sent me one that worked.

so my 360 was delivered to them yesterday. Is there anywhere I can go to check the status of it once it has arrived to them, or when they ship it out?

mine has fucked up a couple of times.....i had to sell NCAA 2007 b/c i couldn't make it thru a whole game without getting a dirty disk error. Besides that i have turned it on and the 360 will come on but not boot up. It did that a couple times and i just turned it off and back on and it has worked fine. When it didnt boot up or whatever sometimes i would get one red light but i havent gotten the doomed 3 red lights.

So, everyone that is experiencing problems... do you have a system with an earlier manufacturing date or are your systems fairly new.

The optical drive on my Xbox is finally starting to give out (dirty disk errors/freezing up) and I've thought about buying a 360 when the backwards compatibility list covers all my games (so, basically never) but I find it discouraging that the dirty disk errors haven't gone away.

only thrown disk errors i got were with oblivion. now mine just freezes and i cant quite diagnose it. i probably should play another game for a while to determine the cause.

hahah

got mine the first day it came out

it has not as so much froze on me yet

but, when i first got it it run idle over night and did not play a game on it for the first few days, and just turned it on for a few hours each day- maybe this helped i dunno. the reason i did that was because it smelled just like a 'computer' (i know it is a computer of some sort) when i powered it on, and i just wanted the smell to go away before i started playing with it.

day 15...still no 360. called today and they told me the shipping carrior was "Null." I tried to explain to the Jap that if he looked it up in the dictionary, "null" is not actually a parcell delivery service.

Sooo...still no 360. They told me to call monday. I hate microsoft.

My 360 recently got the 3 red lights of death. it was working fine last night when i was playing gears of war but then when i go to turn it on today i got the 3 blinking red lights. thing is that i got it back in june and the warranty is up so i called MS and they said its $139.90 to send it to them to fix it.

FUCK! that's 1/3 of what I paid when i bought it!

does anyone know of a way 2 fix it without sending it to fucking MS?

I'm currently 13 days out and they still haven't even entered the fact that they have the console into their systems.

I've gotten to the point where I hang up and call back if the person on the other end of the line is not American. The last Indian guy managed to send me a prepaid box 2 weeks after they recieved my console (per UPS).

^Btw, you can try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYv6b7MndJk if your warranty is already void.

That's the most badass DIY video I've ever seen. I was expecting some geek giving step by step directions and periodically snorting but instead I got a thumping soundtrack.

You have to wonder about the thought process of the first person to try that and whether or not they destroyed one or two x-box's before getting the process down.

Well, after talking to someone from MS (who prob wasn't American) AT LENGTH, I was able to get them to cut the repair cost in half

After that I went here http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=484726 to find out the error code 0102 - which basically means the xbox doesn't know whats wrong with itself
