Yeah, most of them look more like the pic below. Of course, Nick Nolte was allegedly on a myriad of drugs. Delay looked more like he was high on life.

^^ I see what you mean. I, too, can respect the abilities of an individual as a politician while not necessarily liking that individual or agreeing with his or her politics--each of the Clintons would be good examples of my recognition.

Dearest Hooksaw,

I'm sorry if i don't get your jokes. deadpan delivery of what would otherwise fit with your any one of your many typical assertions... well, please accept my deepest and most sincere apology. I terribly regret any harm this has caused you.

and whats with all that "stupid fucking fucking fuck", anyhow? Have you run out of coherent expressions? I could loan you some. Perhaps I am making you angry? Cant we be friends?

Warmest Regards,

Joe

"Conservatives quit board over DeLay appointment

By MICHAEL HEDGES
Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON — As Tom DeLay pursues a return to the public stage, he's meeting resistance from an unexpected source: conservatives who say that he betrayed the movement as a congressional leader.

Four board members of the American Conservative Union, one of the oldest and best established voices of the conservative movement, resigned recently when DeLay was brought onto the board.

DeLay's roles in ramping up government spending and establishing a system of raising money through close dealings with lobbyists were cited by resigning members as their motive for moving on.

"He was part of a congressional leadership that oversaw a massive expansion of the government, which conservatives opposed," said Robert Luddy, a North Carolina businessman among the board members who resigned. "It is one thing to call yourself a conservative, but you have to act on it."

The sentiment was echoed by political strategist Marc Rotterman, another board defector.

"Conservatives looked to Tom DeLay to cut government not grow it. He was complicit in the largest expansion of government in recent times."

DeLay, the former U.S. House majority leader from Sugar Land, joined the ACU board in February, after lengthy negotiations with the influential group concerning his role, said chairman David Keene.

Keene said he understood there would be some trepidation in conservative ranks about forging a relationship with DeLay. But he said the positives DeLay offered in terms of contacts and experience outweighed misgivings.

"When I introduced him (to ACU members) I said that, like a number of Republicans, Tom had done some work on the dark side," Keene recalled. "Now, he wants to harness his abilities for our agenda."

Keene said he has no second thoughts about keeping DeLay on the 33-member board, which receives no pay.

"Who can you think of better than Tom DeLay to be sitting in the room when you are setting priorities with Congress?" he asked.

Two other ACU board members, former Texas Republican Party Chairman Tom Pauken and Virginia public relations executive Craig Shirley affirmed that they also quit the board over DeLay's arrival.

"I just think we need to break loose from what was happening with the Republican Party in the post-Reagan era," said Pauken, citing a number of concerns including the scandal involving lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

DeLay, who resigned after being indicted in Texas on money laundering charges related to campaign financing, did not return calls for comment. His trial is pending.

Keene said DeLay had proposed an effort under which he'd raise $1 million for a grassroots lobbying effort, which DeLay would then run. But that idea was shelved when Keene and DeLay failed to agree on some of the details of how it would operate, Keene said."

No Charges Against DeLay in Abramoff Inquiry
August 16, 2010

Quote :
"After a six-year investigation, the Justice Department's public integrity section has informed Mr. DeLay that it was closing its file on his involvement in the Abramoff affair without an indictment, Mr. Delay and his lawyer, Richard Cullen, announced Monday.

'This is a great day for me and my family,' Mr. DeLay told reporters in a conference call."
