Dummies (on social media) saying there's no way we'd want a former Tarheel. He left them after 2 seasons and had a break-out season at Georgetown last year. Sign him up! 4/16/2024 9:58:05 AM |

We did. So we’re 0/2 recruiting him so far? Maybe 3rs times the charm…assuming we still want him? 4/16/2024 1:22:30 PM |

Lol apparently Indiana is paying Oumar Ballo $1.2 million to play next year! Wild for a guy who is arguably not a star. I mean he averaged <13 points. 4/16/2024 5:36:40 PM |

I’m not doubting it. But I’m always very skeptical of the numbers that get thrown around. Nobody really has any incentive to tell the truth. Players and agents and family members will inflate numbers to drive them up. Coaches can inflate the numbers to drive more donations and/or to further the narratives about NIL being problematic or players making unreasonable demands. 4/16/2024 6:40:25 PM |

It's all basically a legal Ponzi scheme, NIL. 4/17/2024 9:54:31 AM |

I don’t think it’s a Ponzi scheme at all. It’s just not an ideal model for athlete compensation.
Fans pay money (especially big donors) to lure and maintain players to their school. That isn’t really a Ponzi scheme. It’s just a bullshit way for fans to foot the bill rather than athletic departments and conferences sharing revenues. 4/17/2024 12:20:58 PM |

that was more of a Joke, and there was Miami Booster that was probably a Ponzi.

would a more transparent open market be better. right now it word of moth what a person will get or what a school pays. I guess there is eventually a paper trail that has to officially be reported.

Can't we pay them to live in squalor on campus, under condition they get us to final 4, don't pursue litigation, etc? 4/18/2024 10:07:49 PM |

I think Virginia just passed a law that does allow the schools to pay players for things like billboard appearances and promotional stuff like that. But I’m sure that will be challenged since it is against NCAA rules (which seem to get weaker and less enforceable by the month) 4/19/2024 6:43:28 AM |

^^i think that's would actually be fine? Same as paying them for jersey sales when they use their name/number which already happens.
So yeah i was wrong schools do pay players, but not in the way suggested 4/19/2024 9:20:42 AM |

^ yeah I think it’s a good thing. I think it’s just brand new and uncharted territory. I assume other states would put together similar legislation and dare the ncaa to take it to court (where the ncaa tends to lose) 4/19/2024 11:00:55 AM |

I'm not saying don't pay anyone, I'm just saying that NIL is impossibly hard to track. I've given money to Savage Wolves.
I'm happy as hell for the Basketball players crushed it and got tons of NIL money in the final four run. they deserve it.
hope we land some more big time players, come on Jeremy Roach, flow Styles. NC State can create a triangle dream team 4/19/2024 12:22:11 PM |

For whom does it need to be tracked? Do you mean so that we all can know how much a certain player makes? 4/19/2024 12:48:45 PM |

I'm sure the Feds are monitoring, they gotta get that tax money.
I'd love to see money spent by team and how that translates to wins.
FedEx just pledged 25 mil to Memphis's NIL

You can bet your ass that all these NIL collectives will be audited and the IRS will know where every single cent goes.
Also, we're apparently getting another Louisville player LOL

Former Bowling Green guard Marcus Hill committed. Averaged something like 20ppg. Doesn't seem to be a 3 point shooter, but definitely a guy who can get to the rim (and to the free throw line)
Also some interesting F/C additions to the portal in recent days, including UNCW leading scorer/rebounder Trazarien White and Miami's Norchad Omier. One open scholarship currently. Would expect a big(ger) guy since only middlebrooks and huntley-hatfield are taller than like 6'6.] 4/25/2024 6:26:57 PM |

^^ I’m excited about a guard that can get to the rim and the line. Joiner and Horne were great but they are small and struggled with that. T was explosive enough to get to the rim but not strong enough to finish through contact. I think this gives us an element we’ve lacked recently.
Added height should be a priority now. I think Styles and Parker can play the 4. But obviously it would be nice to have more than 2 tall dudes on the team 4/25/2024 8:10:14 PM |

Seems like a big jump, don't think they played a single top 100 game. Seems like a depth piece anyway unless we have unannounced transfers. 4/25/2024 8:15:11 PM |

Definitely a big jump in competition. Probably not fair to compare him to Kam Woods, but Woods also made a big jump and obviously never found a role on the team. Hopefully Hill’s game translates. 4/25/2024 8:18:59 PM |

I mean he's likely to see a good bit of playing time as the backup 4/5. With him we only have 3 big guys. Everyone else would be small ball 4s at best which works sometimes, but other times is at recipe for disaster.5/1/2024 7:19:09 PM |
