love clarity. can somewhat get into the other stuff. been digging most of the tracks on 'chase this light' pretty extensively. any other fans?

PS the beginning to "dizzy" on the new album sounds exactly like "high and dry" by radiohead (the vocal melody that is)

Clarity is an all time favorite. I just happened to see Chase the Light in Best Buy one day. I hadn't heard anything about it's release. I think I like it more than their self titled album.

been with you since lucky denver mint

now if anyone can give me the mp3 of sweetness without the bastard studio cutting out the guitar solo that MADE the song, I'd be mighty grateful.

(and, edit...get it faster is my "fuck you" song. and fwiw, praise chorus should have been played in the radio in 2002... so yeah, I guess I like jimmy eat world a lot)

Well, "Sweetness," of course, but I like these songs, too:

"Bleed American"

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Yud6TmNJWhY

"A Praise Chorus"

http://youtube.com/watch?v=CkQAdAaEB38

Hell, that whole album is good. I know less about their other stuff, though.

met them in seattle back when i was in high school. good guys. anyone interested in buying an autographed mini LP of bleed american i got when i met them? right now it's on my wall but i figure i need to "grow up" and a little pocket change wouldn't hurt. if not, i may just put it in my scrapbook.

what part of "growing up" involves selling your records?

i mean, if you need cash, just say so, but life is pretty much based on food, sex, and music

just not having autographed posters all over my wall. maybe buy some nice prints and have a "grown up" looking apartment rather than one that resembles a 14 year old teenybopper's room. so..i have more posters if anyone is interested.

you can always just compromise like i did. my entire place looks pretty clean cut and 'grown up' like..except for the one room where all my fun stuff is. its where my computer is, my guitars and guitar amps are there, my nc state futon for friends who need a place to crash, etc. and im working on covering the walls in movie posters and signed band posters etc. like i had in college.

i've enjoyed every LP since Clarity. i didn't hate Static Prevails, but i can't listen to it straight through like Clarity or Bleed American. Futures was solid too even though it sounds like they stuck with the Bleed American formula. Chase This Light i've only listened through once and thought it was ok.

my point is, yes i'm a fan of Clarity JEW, and a Bleed American/Futures are kind of guilty pleasures of mine.

i used to like this band a lot in HS, but i can't listen to them anymore

i still contend that the last 13 minutes of "Goodbye Sky Harbor" are a huge waste of time

Same here. I have the "Drum Room" with my drums, a half stack, some guitars, and misc stuff like that. Most of the stuff on the walls is framed now though. I don't just staple up flyers like I used to. I did save all the flyers I have and I'm working on putting them online.

I love JEW! I own their last 4 albums. I think Chase this Light as a whole is pretty good, but not as great as Futures or Bleed American. Big Casino is actually my ringtone on my cell at the moment, haha.

I saw them up here in NYC back in November, small venue on the west side, pretty intimate. It was awesome, but I was pretty pissed that they didn't play Lucky Denver Mint. I mean WTF mate.

nobody's mentioned it so I will, but is 23 anyone else's favorite song by them? Its one of their best IMO.

the ep they put out on fueled by ramen records was the heat.

i still dig clarity occasionally, but can't admidt to having listened to them in several years.

oddly enough, one of my prized 7"s from high school is an original pressing of the split with Jejune..

I saw them down here in Miami a few weeks ago. They opened for the Foo Fighters. I honestly didn't give a shit about seeing them... cause I was about to see the freakin Foo Fighters. Kinda hard to get excited about seeing the opening act when you're about to see the Foo Fighters.

^well to each his own but I'd rather see Jimmy Eat World than Foo.

^its because they only tour on the east coast once in a blue moon. Before this year's tour I'm pretty sure the last time they came through was in 2002 after the release of Bleed American.

I constantly get emails from their website telling me about West Coast and European Tours, WTF lol.

Picking between Futures and Clarity is really difficult. I also really enjoy the "Stay on my side Tonight" EP. Chase this light was a little underwhelming for me.

Song that's been stuck in my head recently:

Started listening to them after Bleed American, bought most of their albums since. I occasionally feel guilty listening to them, but I'm OK with that.

"Disintegration" is my favorite lately, but it varies. I listened to "Chase This Light" pretty much exclusively for about a month there.

so it sounds like tickets for this guarantee you admission if youre there early (does not guarantee admission if you get there late). IE when the door opens everyone with a ticket gets in, then the rest is filled in with stand-by people who signed up. so if you get there late with a ticket you dont get in.

this would be an awesome venue to see them at.
