i DVRd it and just watched. great story. i caught pieces and parts of it here but never really the full thing. glad to see that it all went so well!
9/3/2009 8:04:07 PM
did you get a discount for letting them film that for profit or science or whatever?also im glad they were able to fix that for him, but i had to fast forward once they started cutting. ick
9/3/2009 8:10:19 PM
We did not get any compensation. My husband and I agreed to do anything that Duke PR asked us to do because of how incredibly grateful we were for Dr. Markert's work because without her we wouldn't have our son. All of her work is still considered research and many insurance companies do not cover the transplant. We were fortunate that our company covered all but several thousand of Silas's medical expenses, other children have died waiting for insurance approval.
9/3/2009 8:16:41 PM
that's awesome. glad the little guy is doing well!

9/3/2009 8:20:32 PM
Dude, we wouldn't have dared turned anything down if they offered it!And don't worry, that was actually the first thing my mom asked us.
9/3/2009 8:22:02 PM
