Interesting statistics.

Not fun to see for NC State fans though. Maybe we should stop shit talking Rutgers.

GTown is non-scholarship, plays in the Patriot League with Lehigh, Colgate, and Fordham, and plays the Ivies and Howard for their non-conf. games. I assume they have no interest in expanding football.

It makes zero sense for Penn State to uproot and come to the ACC. It's in a great football conference that's not going anywhere.

Dear NyM410, why the hell don't you suspend pigpen.

Literally the only thing I've ever seen him post is fake links. I didn't even have to click on them to know they were fake because it's all he ever posts.

Please tell me why this obvious troll/bot is still allowed to post.

^^ They tell you where the numbers are from.

Quote :
"One effort to study this is through something called the CommonCensus Sports Map Project, an online survey that asked fans to pick which college football team they’re most loyal to as well as to enter their geographic coordinates. After having collected more than 30,000 responses over the past several years, this has allowed the CommonCensus folks to divide the country up between the different college teams into what looks like a Jackson Pollock painting."

^^^^ I think it's just a survey of fans who root for a certain college, not football in particular.

Duke has more WalMart fans, and honestly i doubt that the bulk of them are in NC. I think they're too widespread to make an effective viewing base, they're certainly too widespread to fill Wallace Wade.

Although I'm surprised not to see them on the top-ten list for NYC. That seems to be where Duke Alumni evacuate to after graduating.

Duke just doesn't bother me. It's a very respectable institution with a historically good program. Also their fans don't tend to be inbred mongoloids like UNC.

not to mention a school like GT being #2 (larger than VT, really?) when per this they got 5k less per game last year than we did http://espn.go.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/9068/fsu-leading-the-way-in-acc-average-attendance

it is a good attempt though, flawed, but a good attempt

^^^ it's football though that study is talking about. Those tri-state area Duke basketball fans are invariably Notre Dame football fans. And no, I'm not joking.

^^ in North Carolina, yes. In the northeast, Duke fans are the mongoloids.

(not sure I get the "respectable institution" thing. Duke, Wake and UNC are all very fine schools and certainly respectable is an understatement when speaking about them).

Rich kids from the NE with a modicum of intelligence have three options for school: Stay at home and go to whichever Ivy their parents did, go South to Duke, or go West to Stanford.

We make fun of the female talent at Duke, and rightfully so, but for most Boston WASPs, its quite the upgrade.

Villanova + St. John's! 14 football, 16 basketball. 16 football teams and you'd be playing some schools like once a decade.

Duke and Wake, yes. I actually applied to both but eventually decided on State for various reasons.

I don't have much respect for UNC's academics personally, considering the people I've known from the school. Just my opinion. They're really overrated, especially in their English department (this is relevant to me - State has a better department, as well as NC's only MFA).

EDIT: I mean only MFA amongst those schools. UNCG has one but yeah...

I'd love to make a joke saying how we're really still at 12 football teams considering Wake and Duke, but State fans lost that right a long time ago.

Do we HAVE to dump GT?

They have an interestingly shaped (if not particularly attractive) stadium, they're in a big city that's worth visiting occasionally, and at least they aren't nicknamed some variation of Wildcat or Eagle.

Also, Charlottesville is very pretty, and worth visiting for a game every few years (as long as you don't pick a year when they hang 60+ on us, like I did).

Get rid of BC though, and UMD while you're at it.

I find it really interesting that Boeheim said he was never asked about it and had no clue as of Friday night. That's like Duke switching conferences without telling K. Interesting.

Also, this quote is great:

Quote :
"Boeheim, who has in-laws that live in Alabama, was a rare basketball coach to speak at the Monday Morning Quarterback Club. Bob Knight, John Calipari and Rick Pitino have previously been speakers.

"Coach Knight is legendary," Boeheim told the audience, "and the other two think they are.""

^^oh yeh, UMD too. I just don't particularly care for GT, or the other schools listed. They're boring to watch, just like these other schools.

interesting to watch != winning teams

for instance, I think VT is a huge bore to watch, but they win games
on the other hand, I think clemson is fun to watch, but they tend to shit the bed (doesn't help my point that they just beat auburn though )

you may have, i'm not sure.

i don't get why there's no talk about louisville though.

^ no way that stands the whole length of it. they'll gladly pay to get out a year early, and the big east will have no choice but to take the cash.
