Kinda wish this show would follow the Lost pattern of making each episode centric to one character, or at least a small group, like the Night Watch or Robb's Army. Would be easier to get a feel for each group rather than bouncing around every few minutes.

^ i think that will happen as we ease into the season, with certain subsets of characters getting focus during a certain episode

cersei is cold and unkind.

dany was previously meek and reserved but has become confident and ambitious.

those are personality descriptors based on their actions in the show.

too easy.

stop talking out of your ass.

I'm done with 4 episodes of the 1st season...does it start to pick up a little bit? I can withstand a slow start, but it's a dragging on a little more than I anticipated and the gf is struggling right now after I thought I had her hooked on the first two episodes.

It definitely picks up; the 2nd half of the season is superb. Overall it is a "slower" story than some people like though.

i didnt catch what Tyrion was doing at first. The first cut-to i was like, wait a second wasn't he just talking to someone else? Then i put it together what his intentions were. Definitely a smart idea to flush out the snitch, no way to deny it which the Maester tried to do.

as for the end with Arya, that was some quick thinking right on the spot. she didn't even show signs of being intimidated with how she responded. love her character and really anxious to see how they develop her.

Renly must be super, super gay not to give it to Margaery Tyrell when she was practically begging for it. Her and Melisandre's racks have been very welcome additions to the show.

Solid episode. I was able to put together Tyrion's plot because of the parallel way they shot those three separate scenes. Also, yeah, quick thinking on Arya's part, but she was also lucky that that poor blonde schmuck happened to randomly grab Gendry's helmet.

Glad Renly is back, very excited to see the developments at his camp and looking forward to when he comes face to face with Stannis as they keep showing in the previews for next week. No Joffrey was also a major positive.

^Yeah, I do, too. So far, they've painted him a lot more sympathetic in the show than they did in the second book, I feel. He was/is in a tough spot. You have to sympathize with a man caught between two identities.

this season has not quite grabbed me like the first did, but I'm still enjoying it

I just don't really get excited about long scenes concerning Theon. maybe if I read the books they'd be more interesting.

Especially when she was down with bringing Loras in to help out. I guess they wanted to show how embarassed it was about it. Now I want to say something about the books but I'll refrain. Lousy shows based on books and knowing what's going to happen. grrr.

Awesome episode.

I do wish we got to see more of Daenerys (sp?). Im curious how that line weaves into the main arcs.

I really hope Theon says fuck off to his dad/sistermanthing. I doubt it happens though.

This show is just 10x better any time Tirion is on screen.

It was pretty obvious what was going to happen with the helmet, i didn't really like the "PAN TO HELMET, DRAMATIC MUSIC, FADE OUT" ending, as though it was some surprising twist.

Tyrion's scheme was the best part of the ep.

I'd like to see more of that, and more of the guys at the wall too.

But I'm glad they didn't show her, at least for the fact that it meant they're willing to focus on 2-3 story lines/characters per episode. If they hit on every character every episode, we'd get a few lines and then jump to the next and it would suck.

This way you get to still see a few different story lines, but they can actually dig into each one a little. And since we didn't get much of her this week, hopefully she is one the story lines they really focus on next week.

I suspect a lot of these story lines are going to come together to some extent. But I hope they continue to do this until they do.

Lost handled this well. It annoyed me at times because a few weeks would go by before you got back to a particular character or sub-plot, but what you got was focused and of good quality instead of bouncing around to every character just for the sake of getting them on the screen.

Has Renly always been married? I don't remember any mention of Margaery Tyrell last season while he was in King's Landing. Did this all happen offscreen between the se01 and se02?

Keep in mind the source material is written in the "bouncing around to every character". Each chapter is from the point of view of a particular character so plot lines drop and pick up repeatedly throughout the series.

It's not like it's just some hack making up the story as he goes along.

Game of Thrones bounces around from character to character, but in my mind is EXPONENTIALLY more "focused" than Lost was when it comes to character development.

Also, I, for one, love the Theon storyline. I think he's been one of the best characters so far this season. Maybe that's just me.

^3 Yeah, must have happened offscreen. I'm pretty sure the last time we saw Renly was last season when he tried to convince Ned Stark to follow his plan and then, when he couldn't, fleed King's Landing. I'm pretty sure that was the last time we saw him on the show.
