Not bad on the first post. I am not real excited about seeing Derek Lowe's face everytime I post in this thread over the next 12 months, but even if the Braves suck, looking at him in an Indians uniform will at least bring some joy.

As for the 2012 Season. My Projections:

Lineup:
1. Bourne - CF
2. Heyward - RF (assuming he's healthy and plays well in ST, maybe FFF in #2 hole?)
3. Chipper -3B
4. Uggla - 2B
5. McCann - C
6. Freeman - 1B
7. Prado - LF
8. Whoever the fuck will be playing SS

Rotation:
1. Hanson
2. Hudson
3. Jurrjens
4. Medlen
5. Beachy/Minor/Delgado/Teheran (whoever pitches better in ST)

Pen:
Not going to guess at everyone as I have no idea what the Braves plan to do with some of the young arms, but as long as EOF, Venters, and Kimbrel are there and Moylan can get healthy, then

God damn this is awesome

No team has ever had a staff this loaded with young guys

Still some injury concerns with the rotation as who knows what is up with Hanson's shoulder or if JJ is 100% after his knee issues. Plus Hudson is getting older and Medlen is coming off Tommy John even though he looked great at the end of the year.

Beachy and all the young guns are going to be limited somewhat by innings. Regardless though it is awesome that the Braves have so many options and can actually team that with a great bullpen (for once) as well as a serviceable lineup.

Definitely excited for next year. NL East is going to be a beast next season.

I'd take some exception to that deal. Granted, both YOung/Prado are somewhat buy-low candidates, but I'd think you could get more than a .268/12 HR/@$6M/'attitude' player for Prado.

id argue that he's probably plays closer to his 2009 form than 2010. dude was hurt on and off for the first 4 months of the season

he killed the ball when he joined the tigers and he finished 7th or 8th in the MVP voting in 2009 I believe

Delmon hits lefties really well too.. I don't know who is better in the OF, but Young has a hose.. I remember him throwing in the low 90s when we were like 17 at showcases.

true, but if you are able to buy low, and he does play like shit...cut his ass lose...maybe he will play better if he just signs a one year do good or go home deal.

Sizemore re-signed with the Indians for 1y/$5m + $4m in incentives

Rocker was fucking huge during his two years of being good. No surprise he was roided up. Juiced up Rocker should fight juiced up Farnsworth in a battle of pitchers who were good as closers for about 50 games.

Moylan and Conrad non-tendered

That means Conrad, Lowe, McLouth, Sherrill, Linebrink, Gonzalez, Wilson, Lugo... all gone... that's like 75% of the Melky Cabrera All-Stars. What a fucking incredible offseason so far, and I don't think Wren has acquired anyone. Who am I going to hate next year?

DOB has been tweeting/responding all day about Baltimore and Atlanta "having discussions"...

which has led to alot of speculation over who might be involved: Jurrjens for Adam Jones? Nolan Reimold?

also, some rumors that we are a serious suitor for Nick Punto as MI-util guy

:/

^ If the Braves managed to land Jones that would be awesome. He needs to learn how to not be so aggresive as a .320 OBP is going to make him the next Franceour if he doesnt improve.

Reimhold showed some good pop and may have more upside than Jones at this point. I'd like to see the Braves get more than that for JJ, but both would help for sure.

So the Braves non tendered Conrad and Moylan. Maybe they'll bring Moylan back, but Brooks may have just seen his career end. Oh well for a 1.5 yr backup that dude had more big hits and horrible plays than any backup I can remember.

So I guess they think Pastornicki or Hicks will be ready to go at SS? I liked A-Gonz.. I don't really care if my SS hits .230 with 15 HRs if he plays really well defensively. I'll take that outta my 8 hitter

Alex Gonzalez signed with the Brewers yesterday apparently

Yeah, I had no problems with Gonzalez. Best defensive SS in the NL, who gives a shit if he can hit.

DOB has mentioned the Braves are looking for a veteran backup for Pastornicky. If Pastornicky is the opening day starter, I feel like he probably won't be there for long. Doesn't have nearly the pedigree or polish that Heyward or Freeman had.

I can't believe the Braves are putting so much faith in Pastornicky right now. The SS position is so weak across baseball right now that the Braves probably should not have given up on Gonzalez so easily. Maybe they can get Pastornicky on HGH.

ok so when i posted that, punto was still a FA... but i did come to post that he had agreed to a deal with boston. i was kinda hoping we'd land him, he's great as far as utility guys are concerned (good defense across several positions and won't kill you with the bat).

AFAIK, pastor is pretty good defensively. He'll be hard pressed to do worse offensively. if he can get on base better, but is a small tick below Agon defensively, I'd call it a wash. all things considered, it won't be tough to do worse.

and I agree with rflong, (SS being weak), but I will use that argument to say that's why pastor should get a shot. you're pretty much going to need to fill the position with a light hitting glove-minded player, so why not let the minimum salary guy do it and let him learn big league pitching - he'll have to do it eventually anyway.

I don't know if it was posted in the MLB thread, but Braves head trainer Jeff Porter lost his wife in a car accident on New Years Eve. They were on their way to a bowl game, and a State Trooper ran a red light on his way to assist another trooper, hitting Porter's SUV.

Trooper has been fired.

"Since he joined the State Patrol in 2002, Trooper Donald Crozier has been involved in twenty accidents in his patrol car, according to his personnel record.

Seven of those accidents were determined to be his fault and he was disciplined for them. Since 2008 he had been at fault in five accidents. Last year he had two accidents in two days. One on February 8, 2011 and one on February 10,2011. He was at fault in both accidents.
