"It was a highly sophisticated attack"

I don't believe that shit, they took over planes with box cutters. I don't know about you all, but i wouldn't be brave enough to take on 50-60 people with a box cutter.

First, you seem to think that EVERYONE on that plane has some sort of yahoo hero mentality. They don't. Why? Because hijacking situations usually (well, before this) involve shit like landing the plane in another city. If the passengers cooperate, everything is cool. Who wants to spare their life playing hero if they could just sit down, shut up, and have the situation be resolved in a couple of hours with minimal conflict? Do you think the terrorists said "do not be alarmed, we are going to crash this plane into the World Trade Center"? Of course not. If they said anything at all, they said "this plane is being hijacked. Sit down and shut up and you'll all be okay". Who's gonna argue with that? Hindsight is 20/20, and you seem to think that the people on that plane had some idea what was going to happen. They didn't.

And about the knife thing: a friend made a good point... Some hysterical woman probably saw *A* knife, gets on the phone and starts yammering about how the plane is getting hijacked by people with knives. Call me crazy, but there were probably guns on board as well.

Good assumption, you have a guess as to how the guns got on board?

Oh yeah, failed to mention that the knives were reported on both the Pittsburgh crash, and one of the WTC building crashes... wasn't just from that one lady that called in the bathroom.

i for one say the had to have inside help or experience...this is too complicated to be just 4 people with knives.

to me cwatson, it appears as though you want to blame the passengers for all of this...sayin..."well, its only a knive or a boxcutter"...thats bullshit...

there wasn't just one guy on each plane. the 1st plane had at least 5, maybe more. (passenger list had 5 "Mohammed"s sitting together, people reported multiple people...

its pretty complex to get 4 planes hijacked and crash into buildings at the same time...

Yeah but you seem to think that it was some cut-and-dry situation that could've been resolved had one Rambo-esque person been on the plane.

if you want to kick someone's ass, go do it to the terrorist groups.

I don't see it as THAT insanely complicated. Find out when four flights are leaving at the same time and get a group of guys with enough balls to high jack their planes.

You'd have to be sophisticated to fly the aircrafts hijacked. You don't really think a pilot flew into the buildings do you?

the pilots were killed, and the terrorists flew the planes. you have to be trained to fly those things.

took flight lessons, althought biplanes are totally different, you can take a two hour class to signify the great differences of large commercial planes vs. biplanes. Two hours isn't much time to learn how to steer a plane... note, they didn't have to know how to land one.

"The planes they choose where a 767-200, 757-200, and a Airbus 320. Both the 767 and 757 are VERY easy to fly once in the air. It is like a small cessena. Very slow and easy to control. The Airbus on the other hand is very hard. This one was used to take out the second tower. Instead of having a yoke(steering wheel) it has a joy stick like a computer would have. It is VERY hard to fly and there fore the highjacker must have know what he was doing. This is very scary for myself b/c I work at RDU."

Think about it though. The crashes were timed for maximum media coverage. Nobody saw the first crash obviously but the world was watching when the second plane hit the wtc. They had to have some flying skills to change off of the original path and hit the two towers and the pentagon. If the terrorists knew that the buildings would calapse that is very clever. It not only took out the people that worked in the trade centers but also the firefighters and the police officers who were trying to give some help and some relief. It was obviously thought through and, IMO, it was a sophisticated attack, especially the timing aspect.

also they used long flights that would have maximum fuel for maximum burning and explosion

They were pretty knowlegable in what aircrafts to hijack. A) widebody aircraft that are relatively stable and easy to control which ensures greater area of disaster. B) all transcontinental flights early in their flights which means a heavy fuel loads, essentially a flying bomb. C) decent number of people on board each aircraft which ensures a great shock of terror.

Maniacs yes, but it was a well thought out and orchestrated plan.

yeah, it is pretty hard to hijack one plane, but 2!!! and at the same time. think about it, if one of them were caught at the security gate, only 1 tower would have collapsed (not that thats good or anything).

This was a brilliant plan and couldnt have turned out any better for the terrorists.
Both planes made it into the air. Both planes hit their target. Both towers colapsed.

Also, i im willing to put money on the fact that there were alot more than knives on board. I'd also put money on the notion the pilots AND passengers were all dead long before the planes hit their targets. This isnt the Hollywood here. There are no screaming women who get to use the bathroom. There is no "everyone be calm and you'll all be fine".
Think about it, the objective was to crash into a building. Not to demand something. If their goal was to demand something, the passengers are insurance and must be kept alive, or else we'd just blow them out of the sky. In this case, the objective was to crash the plane. Them passengers are not needed and are just a liability and a risk to the mission. Do you think they could afford to have a one or several people be "heroes" and risk fucking up the mission?
Ill bet the trerrorists went down the aisle executing the passengers as soon as the plane was hijacked.

Two of the planes hit their targets. The plane that hit the Pentagon probably didn't do nearly as much damage as they had hoped. And one other crashed in a field in Pennsylvania; I'm pretty sure that wasn't the plan.

The passengers on board the plane that crashed into the Pentagon weren't treated well according to the woman who called her husband. She said they were being beaten and stabbed, etc. Regardless, this was absolutely a highly sophisticated attack. It doesn't require a genius to carry a concealed knife or box-cutter on board, but it does take a genius, or at least an excellent plan, to coordinate a three-way air attack on two targets separated by hundreds of miles to take place within two hours of each other.

First off..the pentagon is a huge, flat, and spread out building.
Any retard could tell you that one plane crashing into it wouldnt damage it that much.
What it did do is prove that the US military seat of power is NOT invulnerable.

And that's all they seeked to prove, so they accomplished their goal.
