The Terroists knew what they were doing when they picked those flights. Each one was heading accross the US which ment they had about 5-7000 gallons of fuel. The planes they choose where a 767-200, 757-200, and a Airbus 320. Both the 767 and 757 are VERY easy to fly once in the air. It is like a small cessena. Very slow and easy to control. The Airbus on the other hand is very hard. This one was used to take out the second tower. Instead of having a yoke(steering wheel) it has a joy stick like a computer would have. It is VERY hard to fly and there fore the highjacker must have know what he was doing. This is very scary for myself b/c I work at RDU. I was there today and it was amazing how quite it was. All you heard was wind and all u saw was about 200 airliners. We are on a major security alert and told to question everyone. The planes they choose besides the Airbus are perfect for doing something like this. We need to make the cockpits safer for pilots. A bullet proof door and other safety devices are needed. I am going to start making a list of what needs to be done. Anyway I just thought I would give my a little info about what I know.

actually, it was 2 767s and 2 757s. the 757 and 767 have identical cockpits, meaning they planned out which flights by location and plane type in advance. and they used knives, which doesnt run the risk of depressurization as a gun would. about 5 people on each plane were involved...

HUm I am not trying to stat a argument but the second plane the hit the WTS was a A320 I knwo for a fact I looked on the United route scheledue and it is on the and by looking at the videos u can see the winglets on it which the 757 and 767 does not have.

United Flight 93, a Boeing 757 aircraft, departed from Newark, NJ, at 8:01 a.m. local time, bound for San Francisco with 38 passengers onboard, 2 pilots and 5 flight attendants. The aircraft crashed near Johnstown, PA.
United Flight 175, a Boeing 767 aircraft, departed from Boston, MA, at 7:58 a.m. local time, bound for Los Angeles with 56 passengers onboard, 2 pilots and 7 flight attendants. United has confirmed the loss of this aircraft. Last radar contact with the aircraft was between Newark, NJ, and Philadelphia, PA.

AMERICAN CONFIRMS TWO AIRCRAFT LOST

FORT WORTH, Texas – American Airlines confirmed today that it lost two aircraft in tragic incidents this morning. American said the flights were Flight 11, a Boeing 767 en route from Boston to Los Angeles with 81 passengers, nine flight attendants and two pilots; and Flight 77, a Boeing 757 operating from Washington Dulles to Los Angeles with 58 passengers, four flight attendants and two pilots.

They both said 757 and 767 man.

A 767 and a 757 does nto always have the same cockpit. There are some old 767's and 757 the have a alaloge cockpit and the new ones have a digital all glass cockpit. I have been in them hundereds of times

my girlfriend's dad is a pilot, and that is where i am getting my information. most of the 757s and 767s use the same cockpit stuff (not exactly, but extremely similar b/c both use the same parts--Boeing makes them similar so a pilot getting trained for a new plane doesn't have to learn as much new stuff)

Yea man its cool, but I am like jsquared. I had watched them videos MANY times today and was just about positive it was a Boeing. And yea I hang around the airports a bit myself, being that dad is a pilot, I'm getting my license, and I think I'm going to get a line job at Piedmont for the year. So I guess I know a thing or two about planes myself.

Oh you work at Piedmont? Damn my dad flys in there all the time and was gonna call and see if they had any openings. What kinda hours do they have there? I really want a Tues. Thur. morning shift, if thats prossible. Yea, I have a little experience detailing our King Air's and Baron, but there is little other traffic at our airport aside from Cessna's and all. No corporate traffic, so I could never make a business out of it.

No the company's airplanes, King Air C-90B and C-90. And a Baron 55 that just got repainted and redone interior. Same for the King Air's. And sorry, we just take care of them and shit and I work at the company too, so I just say ours. Dad was the chief pilot at Coastal Lumber, but does safety stuff now, and just flies when they need him. I tow them around (we have a Kubota tractor with a big latch welded to the front bumper) at our 3 hangars at Roanoke Rapids (RZZ) and so I have learned how to back the planes in and pull them out fairly well, though I doubt Piedmont would have me pulling G-IV's or Challengers or anything like that anytime soon. But I can do that if the need arises. And I'm learning to fly on the Baron right now. That was my summer activities, and yea its a hella lot harder to learn on, but I can fly it free instead of paying to rent a Cessna.
