easy fixpress f8 during boot, boot into safe mode log into admin because more than likely you didn't set a password for admin, then go into user profiles and select your current username and delete the password.next step is a bit more tricky if you made all your files private. Because you disabled the password it might not let you use your 'my docs' but the easy way around this is taking/transferring ownership of all your files. I can explain how to do that if you need it with screenshots. But hopefully you won't.[Edited on October 25, 2005 at 9:08 PM. Reason : fda]

you're telling me. I can't tell you how many computers i have worked on that had blank passwords. Customer would drop off a machine for an OS service but not leave us with their password so you just have to use admin to delete that shit.the best part is when you can't access any of their files because you aren't the owner...then you have to sit there for an hour while you over right all their ownership rights so you can open their shit and back it up[Edited on October 25, 2005 at 9:24 PM. 10/25/2005 9:26:57 PM
does it say incorrect password or does it say no user found by that name?
10/25/2005 9:28:32 PM
incorrect passwordi changed it a few months back (at the request of the machine) and then used it onceive since forgotten iti have the previously used passwords, like i said, the computer prompted a request for a new password every few months...anyway, i tried all of the old ones (and what i thought was the current one, i didnt really remember changing it, which makes this even more frustrating)still nothingwhen i go to the set up after turning on power, all of the options are available, safe, safe with prompt, debug, etc, etc, etc.......all of the options require a user and pass for login[Edited on October 25, 2005 at 9:36 PM. is this a networked computer on a work network? sounds like someone created a security policy that prompts for password change. Which is why admin has a password.
10/25/2005 9:44:42 PM
this was a govt. machine (used on a govt network, but only by myself....the last time it was on a government network was over 2 years ago)it hasnt been on a network or used online in over a year
10/25/2005 9:47:16 PM
but the security policies are local policies unless you reformatted because windows won't ask to change password unless there is a policy that says so.
10/25/2005 10:30:12 PM
i'll fix it for you. pm me, you can meet me on campus with it tomorrow if you want.

10/25/2005 11:50:58 PM
^hey 'moron' it takes all of 5 seconds to log into safe mode and remove a password. and all of 10 seconds to click click and take ownership of the files. Its just a matter of waiting on the POS celeron to do the work. And if you knew ANYTHING about computers. you'd know you don't do an effective spyware and virus removal WITHOUT being in safe mode.plz to stfu and gtfoand because i WORKED in a crappy chop shop, we didn't use floppies. We used jump drives. The time it takes to load a 1kb file onto a floppy i'd already have fixed the problem.[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 12:25 AM.
