the camera took a swim in the swamp and is useless
so I would advise bringing a camera that will utilize these to make sure they work, if you decide to buy

if you have the camera, I think canon will sell you an identical refurbished one for very cheap (they call it a "repair fee" but really you send them the old camera, they send you a new one) even if it is not under warranty or really really broken.
