^ They already played.MLS All-Stars 1, Chelsea 0.Dwayne De Rosario scored the only goal.It wasn't a scrub team, either (though even SWP is considered a scrub at Chelski):Chelsea FC -- Carlo Cudicini (Hilario 64), Geremi Njitap, Paulo Ferreira (Ricardo Carvalho 46), John Terry, Wayne Bridge (Lassana Diarra 46), Michael Essien, Michael Ballack (John Obi Mikel 46), Frank Lampard, Shaun Wright-Phillips (Joe Cole 46) (Jimmy Smith 52), Didier Drogba (Salomon Kalou 46), Andriy Shevchenko (Arjen Robben 46).[Edited on August 6, 2006 at 8:56 AM. it sucks that Shevchenko doesn't play for Milan anymore.

SWP proved why he'll never break into the first team at Chelski last night, I think every single one of his crosses got blocked

completely shocked we won, but GG!the ESPN/ABC deal will be sweet, looking forward to more US soccer in HD, heck, just on TVif soccer ever hopes to get big here it'll take TV first, people, in general, won't pay attention to a sport not widely televised.

8/6/2006 6:12:28 PM
how many of the starters for chel were actually 1st team players?
8/6/2006 6:40:47 PM
a lot of them were starters most likely...ferreira, john terry, joe cole, frank lampard, drogba, Shevchenko, and probably some others...

I honestly don't think you can just characterize this Chelsea team by whether or not they're first team Chelsea players. Aside from Smith and Hilario, everyone who played for the Blues yesterday would be a perennial first teamer at almost any other club in the world. For instance, Carlo Cudicini is a top shelf keeper, but it just so happens that his club also owns Petr Cech and his national team #1 is a guy by the name of Gianluigi Buffon.
