Ha.

Just don't try to use someone else's card. The computer will recognize that you are buying totally different stuff than you normally buy, and alarm will sound, and the HT police will come and cart you off.

just use your phone # instead of carrying the card around. HT, Lowe's, and most others except food lion can look you up by phone#.

when i worked at winn-dixie we could punch in people's phone number if they didn't have their card. i got tired of trying to decipher what folks said, so i just used my granny's number for every single person who didn't have a card.

The other day I went shopping at my local HT for the first time in ages. I didn't have a VIC card, so I just made up a few random phone numbers hoping someone was signed up with them - didn't get the discounts

always flash a smile and show your cleavage (if applicable) to the guy in line behind you and you'll get those discounts with a quickness

HT is like the only store that won't let you use their cards. btw, I think food lion lets you look up MVP by phone number now too.

^^I did that once and used like 5 different phone numbers-none worked. Finally I convinced a different cashier to let me use hers. I wasn't paying 6 dollars for that sub+chips+drink meal!

This thread has inspired me to go grab a 4.30 wheat wrap, chips, and tea.

I always use my Dad & Step-mom's phone number at HT. I wonder what coupons they get?

Not as of yesterday

Also, HT will let you use another person's VIC card, they don't care about that. They just typically won't swipe one themselves, though it really depends on the cashier.

I could have sworn I saw a phone number request on a self checkout machine at the FL in greenville, *shrug*

And yeah, another customer's VIC is fair game, but they're crabby when you request theirs.

I use the keychain tag. I always assumed that you return lost keys to Harris Teeter so they can notify you.

^^if it was a new Food Lion, then it's absolutely possible. but every FL around these parts is old as dirt.
