Second the beach. Also, anywhere in the mountains can be a day trip. And Williamsburg could be a fun day trip.

sylvan heights waterfowl park is good in the wintertime cause that's when the ducks have their most vibrant plumage or some shit. i thought it was neat.

i like the outerbanks in Nov. and Dec. too

Depending on where you live in the triangle I think a nice day trip to some of the wineries in NC like Childress in Lexington, NC isn't too far.
