I love Clarity, but I dispute your assertion that the rest is trash.]
3/20/2012 10:23:40 PM
Don't ask jwb9984 about their concert in charlotte in 2002
3/20/2012 10:25:27 PM
The sweetness will not be concerned with me
3/20/2012 10:35:29 PM
They are better than those blink 182 mugs, but Green Day has them by a mug and a half, yadig?
3/20/2012 10:41:27 PM
i saw them play in 2002. it was fun.

The endless jokes of me eating world were hilarious in high school, so I support this early millennial band.
3/20/2012 10:47:17 PM
i'm for em.
3/20/2012 10:47:30 PM
3/20/2012 11:43:48 PM
^yikes
3/21/2012 12:13:37 AM
They put on one of the worst live shows I've ever seen.
3/21/2012 12:19:53 AM
^I was at that show. Didn't see JEW though. Green Day def. stole the show.
3/21/2012 12:37:49 AM
^^i think I was at that show too....did they kick a dude off stage after they realized he had been on stage at other stops of the tour?
3/21/2012 1:30:41 AM
was my jam
3/21/2012 1:57:21 AM
I liked them in high school.
3/21/2012 2:26:05 AM
Can a headliner steal a show, or am I incorrectly assuming that JEW opened for Green Day?
3/21/2012 3:20:50 AM
Technically Blink 182 was the headliner. JEW played first, then GD, then B182Green Day was far better than the other two.
3/21/2012 7:49:54 AM
^ i was there too.. JEW really sucked it up live and that's the metric by which i measure a band's tallent.
3/21/2012 8:01:55 AM
haha, I don't really remember talking about them that much on here Solid, underrated rock band imo though. And yes, while Clarity is my favorite, I do not think the rest are trash and I own all of their albums. Ignoring the self titled and Static Prevails albums (since they are hard to compare to the rest) I personally rank them: Clarity > Futures > Bleed American > Chase This Light = Invented.Seen them a couple times now and they were very solid each time. They pretty much nail the feel of their recorded songs live, so if you like them you will probably like them live and if you don't you probably won't. Also, they are much better in a smaller setting: The best set I saw them play was their warmup set that I won tickets to in Charlotte back around the time Chase This Light came out. Small crowd and they played a bunch of my favorite songs, songs they don't normally play if they are opening up for someone like Green Day. In summary, the smaller shows where they were the focus they were very, very good live. The large shows where they were the opener they were not very good: they played the typical songs the 96 rock fan might know and they had terrible mixes and it was just disappointing. You could just tell it wasn't the right setting for them.I have a hard time comparing them to bands like Blink-182 and Green Day though. I was pretty much into and disinterested in those bands by elementary and middle school respectively. JEW, I got into in 8th or 9th grade and still listen to them. Also, Blink 182 is absolutely atrocious live.[Edited on March 21, 2012 at 8:07 AM. Reason : ]

^ yes... seriously @ that concert, i about walked out everything sounded so horrid. then green day came on and really made it semi worth the ridiculous price i paid for tickets.
3/21/2012 8:07:17 AM
I enjoy Jimmy Eat World. One of the few bands from that period/genre that I still listen to with any regularity.

3/21/2012 8:57:26 AM
Fuck that band and fuck everyone who likes them.Right in the face.

My feelings on jimmy eat world? I don't have anyI'm Krallum and I approved this message.
3/21/2012 10:39:37 AM
Saw them at the Cat's Cradle sometime in Fall 2000 and I thought it was a damn fine live show. I think Jebediah was the opening band maybe.
3/21/2012 11:25:13 AM
dude rocked a unibrowand malcontents loved him.i never understood the appeal.
3/21/2012 11:26:28 AM
I like 'em. Haven't been to one of their live shows or anything, only own one of their albums (Futures FWIW) but solid band.
3/21/2012 11:28:48 AM
Im pretty sure I was at the blink/green day/jew concert in charlotte in 2002. I was in 8th grade at the time All I remember is Mark Hoppus saying something about dicks and telling them to print it as the review of the show in the Charlotte newspaper the next day
3/21/2012 11:48:10 AM
I like them.
3/21/2012 2:48:17 PM
Generic sound IMO. Super lame. Wouldn't take a CD or iTunes download if it was free.
3/21/2012 4:10:00 PM
I won this thread a long time ago.
3/21/2012 4:10:31 PM
This band presents me with a dilemma.I really like a number of their songs, to the point where, with any other band, I would say, "I am a fan of that band."But I don't say that, because when people hear you say "I am a fan of Jimmy Eat World," their response is impolite at best and bordering on assault at worst.
3/21/2012 4:21:49 PM
I listened to them in high school and liked them a lot. I remember how mad I was the first time I heard the Bleed American version of Sweetness.don't know how anyone could still listen to them though. or really any of that emo shit from that era (Get Up Kids, Saves the Day). some of the most cringeworthy lyrics around.Hear You Me might actually be the single gayest song ever written
3/21/2012 9:35:01 PM
^^^i can't disagree with this mug
