badass banjoist and north carolinian, originated teh three finger pick style, played with bill monroe which was basically the origin of bluegrassyou have the internet you can look this stuff up if you really wanna knowif I had to guess knowing your taste in music this may be the only song of his you know

dang this is sad. he did for the banjo what no one else had ever done or will do again with any other instrument.i'm glad i got to see him play in person. amazing.RIP bro.

There is very few things I am thankful that I learned to enjoy whileliving in extreme southeastern Kentucky for 2 years: Makers Mark Bourbon and authentic bluegrass music. Earl was NC born and raised and a hell of a great muscian RIP

If I took the time to listen to some of his music, I'm sure I'd recognize some of it- My dad was/is big into bluegrass, especially banjo (which he played in his college years)
