We came down from Newport News and are staying with friends in Cary this weekend. My wife and I are going out with them and were wondering where we could go. We've been to Bahama Breeze and enjoyed it, but that was almost four years ago.Any suggestions? No clubs or anything like that; just a nice restaurant. Thanks!

We almost went to Batistella's for brunch today but wasn't looking to spend $texas. Ended up at Benelux Cafe which had an awesome breakfast for cheap. No idea why I've never been in there before.

Go to one of the Rocky Top hospitality restaurants (Twisted Fork, Tribeca Tavern, Draft, Mash House, etc.). I don't find their food to be particularly mindblowing as some of the higher end restaurants, but they do offer above average food without breaking the bank, even if the prices seem higher than expected. Chucks/Beasley's is also recommended. Meal will be anywhere from $30-60, tip included, depending on what you buy, i.e., how much alcohol you plan to consume.

I hear the ethiopian place in Mission Valley is nice.

You can go to the Irregardless Cafe to eat and celebrate American colloquialisms. Its pricey for my budget but I ate there once and remember the food being really good.It really all depends on what you want to eat and how much you want to pay. Here are a few places I've enjoyed:Sushi: Sushi Blues(Raleigh) or Sushi-Thai(Cary)Pizza: Lilly's Pizza(Raleigh) and Ruckus Pizza has really nice locations in Cary and Morrisville. I personally don't like their pizza but they have other stuff too.Italian: Piccola Italian Pizza and Restaurant in Cameron VillageVietnamese/Thai/Chinese: Dalat Oriental Restaurant in Mission ValleyMexican: Los Tres Magueyes(Cary) and Jibarra in downtown looks really good but I've never eaten there. I've only been to their after hours stuff. Maybe someone else can comment on the food/atmosphere?American: Mitch's Tavern and Player's Retreat. Its bar atmosphere but the food is good. I hope you guys enjoy whatever place you pick. Best of luck.

Jibarra's food sucks. Only reason to go there is drinks and appetizers. Calavera or El Centro are much better options for downtown mexican.

Maybe something has changed recently in their management then. The two times I ate entrees there the food would come out room temperature and dry like it had been sitting in the kitchen waiting to be served for too long. When I got the paella the dish was gummy I'll give that they have good appetizers though.

I've been pretty disappointed with the food at Jibbarra too, the couple times I've been there

For that type of Mexican food Dos Perros in Durham is leagues better.
