Edible ones. Try them and report back. Also, are you not capable of using google?
10/8/2012 10:12:54 AM
damn i was going to do that let me google that for you thing but it'd be overkill at this point
10/8/2012 10:13:33 AM
what the previous posters meant is "i do not know"
10/8/2012 10:17:28 AM
You mean "I don't know, but I'm enough of an adult to find out on my own instead of making a shitty thread because I'm helpless."
10/8/2012 10:19:14 AM
You guys are gonna have to point me to the page on google that has photo recognition software and can help her not have to sort through 100s of photos of mushrooms or ask a message board that has reasonable chance of having an expert on it. Because that technology must be the shit.

^^I know one of yall has to be an expert on shrooms.[Edited on October 8, 2012 at 10:30 AM. Reason : f]

You know you can find things out without special photo recognition software, right? It might take *gasp* some thought or effort, but it is possible. Did you even try to google it? Are you aware of all of the sites specific to this very subject? Why not start there? Why not do something for yourself?
10/8/2012 10:29:52 AM
the point is all any of us would do is google image search "yellow mushroom" and compare what the results are to her pictures which she herself is perfectly capable of doing herself
10/8/2012 10:30:55 AM
Yellow honey mushroomsI enjoy these challenges. Bring it TWW.
10/8/2012 10:33:53 AM
I was able to very quickly and easily find out what they are by searching for it on google, no special software required. You've got to be a bit more specific than "yellow mushrooms" though. How did some of you make it through college without any critical thinking skills?^Elise gets it. It was VERY easy to find out, wasn't it? Much easier than making this thread and having to deal with people like me that will call you out for being helpless and lazy.[Edited on October 8, 2012 at 10:34 AM. Reason : Fuck this thread.]
10/8/2012 10:34:03 AM
^^^^ I did but didn't really find anything definitive. Plus mushrooms are tricky to identify if you're not an expert. I know there's a couple folks on here that do mushroom hunting so I'm hoping they can provide some insight that's better than GIS [Edited on October 8, 2012 at 10:34 AM. Reason : s]

Could be jack'o lantern mushrooms, btu doesn't really look like it. take a spore print and then google 'yellow clustered mushroom with XXXX colored spore print'
10/8/2012 10:36:25 AM
please note that people have already USED GOOGLE to give her her answer that was she was too lazy to find herself

The clouds of smug are so thick itt that I can't breathe in here. Google doesn't identify mushrooms from pictures, and neither can most mycologists. At a bare minimum we need at least some of the following info to start identifying the mushroom 0. habit and habitat (we can see this from your pic, though knowing what kind of tree that is would be useful)1. dimensions2. what the underside of the cap looks like. if it has gills, spacing and pattern of the gills and details about how they attach to the stipe. if it doesn't have gills, does it have pores or little teeth? is it smooth? 3. color of spore print4. is there an annulus around the stipe or other remains of the universal veil? 5. is the stipe hollow or solid? 6. when you dig up the base, is there a sac around the base, or is it another shape? growing directly from wood? 6. texture of the cap and stipe 7. smell8. acid test (does the flesh turn colors in various acids) 9. microscopic photos of the spores I'd guess that this is a member of the Tricholomataceae, given habit and habitat. go back at night and see if they glow in the dark! these could be the jack-o-lantern. http://blog.mycology.cornell.edu/2007/04/02/an-adventure-with-omphalotus/
10/8/2012 10:38:57 AM
what about this one?
10/8/2012 10:42:20 AM
For dimensions and underside of cap, it looks really similar to Hypsizygus tessellatus. I didn't see anything that looked like it had a veil or annulus. I'm going to try to find out the rest of these this afternoon thanks
10/8/2012 10:42:55 AM
I've got 5 lafta bucks on yellow honey mushrooms. Keep me posted!
10/8/2012 10:47:34 AM
if you can, take a little knife and cut the stipe off of the cap a few mm below where they meet and take a couple of macros of the gills/attachment. digging up the base on these particular mushrooms won't be that important, they are definitely growing in cespitose clusters the id books i have use spore print as the primary keying feature, so getting that spore print is important. however, those shrooms are young and the spores may not come out until tomorrow night. you can pick one and put it on a piece of paper (ideally half white, half black) and put a little drinking glass over it so the wind doesn't disturb it.[Edited on October 8, 2012 at 10:54 AM. Reason : ^no annulus, so its most likely not honey mushroom ]
