I was told that the WTC contained private businesses, as if "The World Trade Center" was just a title. Did it actually handle signficant international tradding issues (ie. was it where the mainframes for the stockmarket are located, if there are such things?)

Please you guys, try to think somewhat peacefully. Yes the palastinians are cheering, our nation has pissed them off greatly and aditionally they are taught hatred of america as part of their religion. But remember that while white people cheered violence towards blacks in America, peacefull actions by Martin Luther King where more powerfull than violent retaliation.

Obvoiously we should look to defend ourselves, but let's learn WHY these attacks where made, and learn a lesson from them.

a passenger on the plane that crashed in PA called from the bathroom on a cellphone, saying "we're hijacked! we're hijacked!" they stayed on the phone for a few minutes but then heard a loud noise and the line went dead...apparently there was supposed to be a third plane going to NYC

Yea Morgan-Stanley-Dean-Whitter had most of there offices there. That entire investment group is gone now. They had branches, yes, but the bosses that ran and made all the decisions for that financial organization are gone. They controlled lots of peoples money. Also, a lot of gold and currency exchanges were in the WTC, so yes this will have an effect on the economy.

I just got word they're not allowing any emergency rescue personell near the disaster, they've got them working triage, the walking wounded are being ignored, those dying are being ignored as well, only those who can be saved are being treated....I wanna go home sooo badly....in fact I was discussing it with a friend back home, I could drive to Jersey(bout as cause as anyone could get for now)could be there by10-10:30 tonite, then rollerblade the rest of the way into the city across the bridges.....but I don't know if I'll be going.....might just stay ehre and work and attend class.......

I checked the Tampa info. I thin that the problem there was they were trying to protect George W. He was there at the time, which might explain why the had such an extreme amount of police and stuff there, to make sure nothing happened to him till they got him outta town.

I appologize, I threw I mentioned in a previous post President Bushes "strong authoritative stance" as if that was the reason for terorist retaliation. I do not mean that he is directly responsible.

Our country has pissed off much of the world in many different ways. I do think that Bush does a particularly good job of pissing off internationals, but he is very likely NOT responsible for this terrorism. Selling weapons to Israel is NOT something that he started. So Jsquared, and anyone else angered, I appologize for not makeing myself clear, and for putting too much of my political slant on the issue

BTW: Does anyone not think that this was a palestinian attack in response to weapons sold to Israel?

Lets face it folks... There are only a handful of groups large and organized enough to put together something on this kind of scale. The military probably already knows exactly who did it. It must be the actions of a terrorist group... any entire country would've made military attempts at america before hijacking our own airplanes and turning them against us. And the US military could easily take out any group small enough to have to resort to using OUR airplanes as their primary weapon.
