www.canoe.ca is reporting that the military (apparently Canadian?) is escorting a hijacked plane in route from Hong Kong that was flying over Alaska. They're trying to force it to land in Whitehorse, I believe, although I have to admit I'm not sure where that is.

That's the thing... if you were on a plane being hijacked, you have NO IDEA what is going to happen next. Assuming you had some idea what was going to happen, you might try and be a hero, but the rest of the people on the plane are probably a bit more hesitant. Besides, none of the passengers would get up anyway because they figure that if they just cooperate they'll be off the plane eventually.

Dad's in DC and he is OK. He can't get out of the city, but will try a little later this evening. So far, the Bay Bridge is open, but they are checking every car and not letting trucks through. I can't believe what has happened. Please make sure you have enough insulin and food. I think this is going to get alot worse. by the way, they closed the wires down about 10:c0 this morning.
