I guess the Ford engine would work better. This car is mid-engine so toss in the Ford GT's engine! 1/11/2012 8:54:42 AM |

it's actually a pretty badass build, he's done most of the work himself
the engineering is phenominal
carbon brakes, ls7 connected to a porsche transmission
while I don't like some aspect of it, it's pretty impressive 1/11/2012 1:50:02 PM |

Honda says new NSX will be priced like a 911 and bring 458 excitement
Quote : | "A Honda representative says the 2015 NSX will cost as much as a Porsche 911 and bring the level of excitement you get in a Ferrari 458 Italia.
In a brief interview given to Autocar, NSX development chief Ted Klaus mentioned the upcoming supercar's objective is to provide the "excitement of the 458 at the price of the 911." They believe it will be possible thanks to the implementation of hybrid technology.
He cautioned NSX fans that the vehicle's power figures won't be impressive but he assured "the qualities that you can't write down, such as driver involvement and pleasure, are the ones that will matter." Klaus said Honda used as benchmark models such as the Audi R8, McLaren MP4-12C and the Nissan GT-R, along with the aforementioned 458 and 911.
Scheduled to come out in 2015, the Acura NSX will be powered by two electric motors sending output to the front axle, along with a third motor built into the V6 engine to power the rear wheels via a new dual-clutch gearbox. The vehicle will be manufactured in Marysville and is being developed by Honda R&D Americas in Raymond, Ohio." |
Come on Honda... Get with the program and hurry up! Still 2 years away, dang it!10/29/2013 7:57:53 AM |

sounds suspiciously like the original formula...great sports car, but too much price and not enough power. 10/29/2013 9:33:11 AM |

Considering that its direct competitors have between 500 and 600 hp, I am guessing it will come in at around 450 hp. And if you think about it, 450, is enough to have fun around a small track, assuming it will be relatively light. Super cars have gone mad coming in between 7xx and 9xx hp. Where the hell are you going to use all that power?
This is what else the development chief said:
Quote : | "“The NSX has never been about a set of figures on a piece of paper,” he said. “As with the original, the eventual power figure won’t grab headlines, for instance, but the qualities that you can’t write down, such as driver involvement and pleasure, are the ones that will matter.
"As engineers, we like numbers, but I’m acutely aware that if we build this car against a set of criteria that has been written down, we will lose our sense of focus.”" |
Remains to be seen how good it it will be.10/29/2013 2:20:12 PM |

"Too much horsepower is never enough" John Hennessy
And to be honest the reason for it is with a 650hp mustang you have to make a strong case for the extra 200 grand most super cars cost. 10/29/2013 3:55:40 PM |

Those aren't super cars. Those are hyper cars.10/30/2013 1:25:35 PM |

Yeah but the lines are getting blurred, and anyway, every new generation of a super car comes with more power. If current trends continue, in 10 to 15 years the 458 Italia successor will have 7xx hp. So will the GTR, 911 Turbo and GT2, and Gallardo successor.
What would you consider the F12 Berlinetta? It has 730 hp. Super or hyper? Consider its past 4 predecessors:
550 Maranello: 485 hp 575 Maranello: 508 hp 599 GTB Fiorano: 612 hp 599 GTO: 650 hp
So if it has 730 hp now, what about the next gen or the one after that?
The LaFerrari is definitely a hypercar, with 963 hp . But what about its past 3 predecessors:
F40: 478 hp F50: 512 hp Enzo: 650 hp
That one definitely seems to have skipped a few generations by going from 650 hp to 963 hp in one generation . And what will the next one have 10 years from now, rocket propulsion? 10/30/2013 2:05:27 PM |
