Despite how often I drive to CH/Durham, you could not pay me enough to live outside downtown Raleigh right now.

Many people live there. Most of them are RTP workers.

I hate 2-car garages with the divider in the middle, with a fiery passion.Nice fence though.
6/20/2012 9:30:35 PM
Why?
6/20/2012 9:33:49 PM
Because then you can't pull a car straight into the middle if you need to for any reason (cleaning out your car, doing car work, unloading furniture in the rain). And it's much easier to damage a car/garage if you're pulling into a single car space than a double car garage. And sometimes you want to pop up the garage door, and work inside the garage, and that's easier if you've got one door instead of 2.[Edited on June 20, 2012 at 9:37 PM. Reason : ]

$300k is awfully high for McCrimmon in my opinion. Your realtor should look up the comps for that neighborhood before you get any further into negotiations.

Morrisville aka Little India
6/20/2012 10:10:12 PM
I have nothing to do about it. A lot of Indians work in engineering companies.

Are you buying a new house or a used house?
6/21/2012 4:17:14 PM
Used

Personally I'd rather live in Raleigh (Glenwood, Brier Creek, or North Raleigh). Or even West Cary/Apex, than Morrisville. I've lived in Morrisville before. The place is too dead for me. And too close to RTP. I don't want to be THAT close to work. I want to be close to shopping centers and things to do. I want to live where I play, not live where I work. Also, lots of Asians and Indians in Morrisville. Morrisville is good if you just want to drive to work and back everyday, then stay in your house on in the evenings/weekends and play with your kids.Ideally, I would love to live ITB.I don't like Breckenridge, quality of Pulte builders is bad. The homes are old now. McCrimmon in the Park is also Pulte. Twin Lakes is OK, made by KBHomes, but no trees, neighborhood is boring and flat, and tons of Indians. Also, the lots are so small.Providence Place is not bad. Kitts Creek is unique.I'm just blabbering now and should stop.
6/21/2012 5:59:01 PM
This one is belonging to McCrimmon in the Park. What do you think? What's ITB?Where did you live before? [Edited on June 21, 2012 at 6:05 PM. Reason : add another note]

I just bought a house ITB (inside the beltline). Sure it's not as big as I could get for the same price OTB but being close to downtown and everything is well worth it. My friends live OTB and they have to make it a point to go downtown and pay gobs of money for cab rides whereas I can go downtown whenever I please and pay $3 for a cab ride.
6/21/2012 6:09:29 PM
Really? I need to think about it.
6/21/2012 6:09:36 PM
^^ For a lot of people though they don't really have an interest in going downtown often. Having a new baby I'm sure will limit his drinking opportunities.
6/21/2012 6:13:40 PM
I rented in the Preston area before, near Morrisville Carpenter/Davis. I have friends that live all over Morrisville in Breckenridge, Town Hall Commons, Kitts Creek, Providence Place, Hamlet in the Park, and Twin Lakes. Morrisville is just dull, cookie cutter homes in areas that used to be farmland so lots are flat. Again, I don't like being near RTP. Also, not a lot of shopping centers unless you consider Walmart and Sams in RTP. And the new Park West near Cary Parkway/54. I've also lived in Apex before and I prefer Apex, as it has more character, a nice downtown, easy access to HW 64, and the soon to be I-540. Plus it's right next to the mega Beaver Creek Shopping Center. And they preserve a lot of trees.ITB = In The Beltline, anything inside I440. Close proximity to Downtown. Lots of old trees. Even if you don't do downtown, you are a hops skip away from Crossroads, Crabtree Mall, North Hills, etc if you hop onto I440.Lots of people like Brier Creek too, if you want to be near RTP but also mega shopping center. But Brier Creek is overpriced and on the border of Durham. If you gots money, then North Raleigh for nice houses/lots, esp near Falls Lake watershed.West Cary (west of HW 55) is nice too, for families and up and coming. Also, easy access to future I540.[Edited on June 21, 2012 at 6:42 PM. Reason : k]

I doubt many of the people you know that still party are from China. I can only imagine the amount of grief my Chinese friends would get from their families if they even thought about going out partying after having a baby

Dunno many Chineses party a lot.Gonna seal the deal. Still need time for loaning before my current lease ends.

i would never buy a double garage door house.not only is the middle beam distracting, but i would always have to pull perfectly into the garagealso, often times i pull right into the middle of my garage, to work on my car, to detail it, to load/unload passengers from both sides, especially useful if it's raining or i'm working in the garage in the middle of the night with the garage door closedalso if you need to back in a trailer, jet skis, etc etci would not say that builders widen the garage if it's a double door and not single doori have a single door and i have wider outside edges[Edited on June 22, 2012 at 1:30 PM. ^This exactly.

To the original OP, in this housing market, I would not pay more than $250K for that 2500 sq foot USED house built by Pulte with a tiny lot when there are tons of other choices. House also looks dark inside.
6/22/2012 1:32:33 PM
We have been searching for 6 months, not full-time though. House is sold quickly. The inside is not as dark as you see in the pic. For builders, seems that pulty is so so. I need to pay much more for house with better builder. [Edited on June 22, 2012 at 1:38 PM. Reason : add another note][Edited on June 22, 2012 at 1:46 PM. Reason : ;]

0.16 Acres guess you wouldn't have to spend much time mowing the yard.
6/22/2012 1:40:10 PM
$250K for that 2500 sq foot = in this market, I would not pay more than $100/sq ft...the larger the house, the even cheaper the $/sq ftUSED = too much competition from competitive priced newer homes that you can get for the same price. Unless the house is really unique in terms of lot/location/floorplan. This one IS NOT.Pulte = one of the worst tract builders in terms of quality. I've seen many Pulte homes deteriorate much faster than other builders.Tiny Lot = why even bother with a lot then. get a townhouse. if you plan to have kids, lot size is very important.House also looks dark inside (based on pictures) = i don't know what direction it faces but dark houses are depressing......you want bright airy homes....take it from me, i know a bit about feng shuiAlso, watch out for that sloped hill in the backyard. It could lead to water flowing down into the yard in case of rain. Unless there's a little drainage where the water collects. Most recent comp showed $268K back in 12/2011. Should be even cheaper now.
