... Except I am not trolling. maybe if you actually read what people are saying you would understand it.IMO she fucked up BIG, and 10 years is not a big amount of time considering she took away a total of 50 + yrs from the people she killed.I don't think it is fair to the families of the victims just because she promises to live their dreams for them. It sucks for her, someone should have introduced her to smokey the bear.[Edited on July 19, 2012 at 11:51 AM. Reason : .]

One of the girls she burned alive was high school friend and her sister. Should she get life in prison for a prank? NoShould she get life in prison for Arson? NoShould she get life in prison for her stupidity? NoShould she get life in prison for fleeing the scene instead of fixing the mess she created? NoShould she get life in prison for pleading guilty instead of defending herself as was her right? NoShould she get life in prison because of all of the above together in context? Damn right she should.

Two of the families from the victims wrote letters in support of the clemency petition. Interesting.

Doesn't matter this bitch is gonna rot in jail
7/19/2012 12:33:02 PM
And I am not surprised the parents of some of the victims support it. They have had to live with all this for years, maybe it is time for them to let go of the hate. While I agree it is steep. I think she should get parole, but not after only 10 years.I feel bad, but seriously, this girl knows the laws of this country. She should have known even if the fire did not become deadly, she still would have been in trouble. You can't just light shit on fire on someone's doorstep and leave it w/o risking getting caught.I hate to bring race into this, but if she weren't white... would people even think twice about this? I don't know, but I think it is interesting to consider.[Edited on July 19, 2012 at 1:07 PM. Reason : .]

I don't think felony murder should be a first degree offense (which is why there is no parole). But I don't know if this person should be the poster child to overturn that rule.[Edited on July 19, 2012 at 2:57 PM. Reason : ^ ]

Wouldn't there be no parole since NC did away with it prior to this crime occurring?
7/19/2012 3:07:12 PM
7/19/2012 3:13:19 PM
^^Are you asking me? There's no parole in NC for a First Degree murder charge. It's an automatic life sentence. I was referring to the fact that felony murder is also automatically a first degree offense, despite not having the appropriate intent necessary to otherwise have a first degree conviction. Hence, if felony murder were just tried as a normal murder, she'd likely get 2nd and have the opportunity for parole, etc.

Dante Stallworth got 30 days in jail for killing a woman with his Bentley while drunk, and he's still allowed to play football. That's just about as negligent, if not more so.[Edited on July 20, 2012 at 4:20 PM. Reason : .]

^^ i think when you commit something hugely destructive, it doesn't matter whether you intend to kill or not. any deaths should be treated as murder.what if i go out and bring a small building (2-3 stories) down at 3 am, thinking it is empty, with explosives? what if there were a couple of people inside, working late?same thing with burning a house down. she could have helped them or called 911, she didn't.
7/21/2012 12:44:24 AM
She's dumb but doesn't deserve life in prison.
7/21/2012 3:46:45 AM
7/21/2012 10:34:35 AM
im sorry but i dont care if you confess to it.....she should be put to death and i think by lighting her on fire.just because someone is a good person and does one stupid horrible thing doesnt mean u should treat them better. what if obama confessed to something bad....gonna go lightly because u like him? you have to be unbiased....look at the crime. She lit someone shit on fire, fled, heard people were killed, didnt turn herself in but confessed once they arrested her, and even believed she should get capital punishment. im sry but there are times when a guy kills a whole family and gets the death penalty. someones people get off because of how they have to do the trial or they get lesser sentences.people are repeat offenders, im sure she wouldnt be but look at what she did. i dont care if the pope is perfect and then on his death bed kills 5 people. im still gonna put him in the chair.also, just because u confessed doesnt mean u should be left off. if hitler confessed to the holocaust....u think he should just get life in prison?lastly, our prisons are over crowded and i think if u take a life and convicted of it in the 1st degree.....no life sentence, automatic death sentence. if you do something like drink and drive and kill someone, same thing. if u accidentally kill someone, then u get prison and it depends on situation.burn the bitch

Setting a futon / furniture on fire is not a 'prank'.
7/21/2012 12:01:01 PM
That's not a prank, it's fucking arson. I hope she rots in jail.
7/21/2012 12:56:26 PM
^Yeah that's what I'm saying...A prank would have been covering his door knob with vasaline...or hell, even throwing a couple bags full of dog shit on his front door if she wanted to be a bitch to her ex...but lighting something on fire...that's just dumb. While it was involentary...she didn't want to kill those people...it's still her fault they are dead.

A lot of people don't understand the importance of arson laws. Like, they think it's illegal because it damages property, not because it often kills people. But, as a super awesome Girl Scout, you'd think she'd be fully aware of dangers associated with fire.I'm also not clear on what makes her such an amazing, special person. She did church stuff and was good at Girl Scouts. She got a degree in Business and "talked about" saving the environment and the world. And she also got drunk with her friends and set out to put clam juice in her ex-boyfriend's car and ended up lighting a building on fire and leaving people behind to die.She just seems like a normal person to me...maybe a little immature for 23. But there's no evidence that she "has otherwise lived an exemplary, positive, and socially-conscious life." I just find it really, really hard to believe that someone who would actually pull the clam juice prank is also somehow an exemplary, upstanding individual or whatever.
7/29/2012 11:42:25 PM
^maybe she never got her arson badge? It's clear though she never earned her how to pull a prank safely badge
