Are sleeve tats a prerequisite to owning a pair of these jeans?
10/15/2012 9:04:30 PM
I used to buy expensive jeans, and then I got married.
10/15/2012 9:06:30 PM
I'll gladly pay $100-$130 dollars for a few pairs of nice jeans that fit really well and I can wear out on certain occasions. People do notice one who dresses well. However...I seriously doubt that anyone is going to see you out in public and tell the difference between $130 pair of jeans and $300 dollar jeans. The only person who will know and/or care is you. It's narcissistic and it makes the wearer an asshole.
10/15/2012 9:07:05 PM
Are white sneakers, long black leather jacket, and some type of fedora or top hat required for $30 jeans?

I'm just pointing out, by being sarcastic and flipping the situation, that the only people who are judging and looking down on people are the ones who buy cheap jeans. I may have some jeans this expensive, I have no idea. I do buy nice jeans, but I purchase based on look and fit and not cost. I definitely do not notice brands of jeans other people wear, although I do sometimes (and I suspect women do often) notice when someone's jeans look dumb or fit terrible. It's has nothing to do with cost, some of the dumbest looking jeans are very expensive and are worn with very dumb looking expensive t shirts by 40-something wanna be rockers who are trying to hard. I don't own any Raleigh Denim jeans but I don't find the price outrageous for handmade jeans and am happy that a fellow State alumn and Raleigh downtowner is doing well.[Edited on October 15, 2012 at 9:18 PM. I kind of want to post links to classic men's leather shoes and boots (like... I don't know, Allen Edmonds and Alden to start) and watch those get clawed to death too for being stupid and priced to sell to idiots.
10/15/2012 9:31:08 PM
I'm married, but I do want to dress well and look good. I don't think thats shallow, I think it's part of feeling good and being confident. I also want to look nice for the wife and not be a slob. I don't care if she sees me in ratty sweats around the house, but if I'm out with her I'm wearing jeans that fit and look good and don't have pockets on the knees or loops for tools I'm not carrying

^I don't think anyone in this thread has once said that $30-$50 jeans aren't more than adequate for most people. Just some people prefer the "buy it for life" approach to pretty much all major personal products. I'm not that way with jeans either (I wear relatively cheap Levis) but I am with, say, boots and shoes. I don't know, this thread is just going to keep on tumbling in the "lawl you're stupid" "haha you buy stuff from Wal-Mart" direction. Beasley's Chicken 2.0 thread.

My favorite pair of jeans that I probably wear ten to one to any other pair of jeans I have is a $300 pair of Sevens. The fit is perfect, the fabric is glorious. Most of my other Sevens are ones I've gotten substantially cheaper at Nordstrom Rack for around $60-100, but just don't have the fit or feel of the flagship pair I prefer to wear. Also, the quality has been so much better than any other brand I've worn in the past fourteen years.

quagmire02 has the perfect life. Great job, a dog that takes care of itself (and probably makes him breakfast in bed), he found the perfect pair of jeans that are as comfortable and look as good as a $200 pair of jeans, his wife lets him go out dressed like a hobo...all while driving a POS Saturn. We should all strive for this life.[Edited on October 16, 2012 at 6:36 AM. I have tried on a pair of Raleigh Denim and man, if I had unlimited disposable income, I'd buy a pair. They're the best fitting jeans I've ever tried on and they look amazing on as well. But since I scoff at the idea of spending a $500 deductible to get my car fixed, I'm not in the income bracket these jeans are designed for
