To say Charleston is going to die out when the old money dies is just plain wrong. There's new manufacturing plants going up about once a month less than 3 miles from where I live.
7/25/2012 8:44:02 PM
you know those blue collar workers love that fine dining.
7/25/2012 8:46:11 PM
the simple solution to shitty service with auto-grat is to pay with a credit card and leave a negative tip on it, thus removing the auto-grat. make a point that it's negative on the merchant copy and they can't charge the card for more than you authorized. if they do, dispute it on your credit card statement. It will then be up to the restaurant to show that you signed anything saying you would pay an auto-grat.or, just leave cash and leave less than what the auto-grat was supposed to be.this aint rocket-science, people]

I am stunned that jbrick83 would defend the industry of Charleston as vehemently as he did with those pitiful titles--best romantic vacation, culture, bed/breakfast, tennis, antiques, coolest smallest city, "performing" city, "small business vitality."I think my favorites on his list are:BEST TOWNandBEST ONE-TANK GETAWAY(I like Charleston and hate Charlotte, by the way.)
7/25/2012 9:16:02 PM
i think it's hilarious that the entirety of his argument was based on his experience in Charleston. Like, that one town trumps every other city's experience, because, well, it's Charleston! Kind of fitting, though, because Charleston is full of itself. Meanwhile, he then has the nerve to suggest that Charlotte isn't a major metropolitan area or that people don't consider it one. I mean, what the fuck
7/25/2012 9:18:55 PM
1. I won't tip over auto tip. If you don't trust me as a patron, that fine, but your distrust earns you no extra tip.2. If I get shitty service on an auto tip tablet (IE 1 server waiting a party of 20, and 5 other tables). Ill bitch, and get it off the bill. I have no problem raising a stink. If you write off my large group because you think your tip is auto, fuck you.You give me the choice, i wont tip under 20% for decent service, great service (IE you picking a good wine, getting our dinners right, and making sure I'm comfortable, but not rushed and you'll get more). If you live off tips, then you better earn them. If I'm supposed to make up for your shitty salary, then I have an expectation of you performing a decent job. I'm not a welfare program for shitty servers, or overworked servers.
7/26/2012 12:13:41 AM
I am pretty non-confrontational. I don't know who to blame for what, shitty food is the kitchens fault, slow food is usually the kitchens fault, cold food=kitchen, understaffed=shitty manager, etc. Two things piss me off, 1) Empty drinks....I drink a lot, don't matter if its water, tea, coke, or beer, you need to check drinks. 2) Waiting forever for the check or a simple condiment like mayonnaise, ranch dressing, or something. Anyone who does not fuck up those two things gets 20% and if other stuff is fucked up I just wont go back.
7/26/2012 12:29:46 AM
I waited tables/bartended for almost 10 years to put myself through college/grad school.Grating a big party is a fucking no brainer. At worst you get your 18% (which you fucking deserve anyway), but at best people will tip you extra because they thought you worked hard or didn't know it was included. Some retards/n00bs wouldn't include the grat, hoping they'd get left more. The truth is, that if a table wants to reward you, they'll tip on top of the gratuity because they want to. NEVER assume they'll tip you more than the grat. DUMB DUMB DUMB
7/26/2012 1:26:02 AM
but did you tell them grat was added already

few people in this thread don't believe in tipping. most, however, think auto-grat is bullshit, and it is. your attitude of feeling entitled to a gift is what people don't like. fuck you]
7/26/2012 7:30:40 PM
why do waiters and waitresses get so pissed off when instead of tipping them, you make a donation in their name to charity for 25% of your total bill amount?
7/26/2012 7:41:29 PM
I don't have a problem with automatic gratuity, but I go into rage mode when they refuse to split out my portion of the bill. I recently ran into that problem in Maryland. wouldn't split out the bill, didn't know what sales tax rates were on food and alcohol, and couldn't even accurately point out which item on the bill was the beer I ordered. The manager acted like more of an ignorant fucktard than the waitress, refusing to tell me what my portion of the bill was and continuing to tell me to just throw a portion of money at the bill with a group of 16 people of which I knew two of them. We didn't even show up with the other people, so I don't know why our bill got lumped into theirs since we placed our drink orders after they were finished eating.I kind of want to go back to eat there a few times and tip nothing to make up for that fiasco.

Auto-tip = no tip from me. I don't care if you are the best waiter and all but suck my dick. You get what is automatically added to my bill.
7/27/2012 8:55:12 AM
"Just the tip" is the only thing I've got for jbrick83 after browsing over this thread. What a fucking toolbag, this guy. No one likes you and your argument style sucks donkey dicks, fuck off.[Edited on July 27, 2012 at 9:53 AM. Reason : .]

Didnt read the entire thread...just wanted to say its obvious who waits tables and who doesn't.You waiters are doing yourselves no favors. Kinda being assholes actually.
7/27/2012 10:15:52 PM
when i was in red robin the other day, i added a dollar to the built in tip... the waiter was friendly, efficient, and put up with me when i decided to change my entire order (i would have left an extra two dollars if he had already punched in my first order and THEN changed it.)
7/27/2012 10:28:17 PM
FUCK all these TDubbers claiming to be 25% tippers. If you're a server, AUTOGRAT! Every time...Unless BigHitSunday is paying the bill, because he is the fucking man!
7/27/2012 10:53:32 PM
I tip 25-50%, depending on my mood. I rarely go out.

^ I fucking hate you for two reasons. One is that you just posted the lamest "comeback" in TWW history. You could have responded with "no, you are" and come off 10 times smarter than you did with that bullshit. The second reason is that your replies in this thread allowed for aaronburro to post something I actually agree with. Now GTFO you worthless piece of shit.

sounds like you think you're ENTITLED to good service when you go outoh the ironyi'm loving all the anti-social tools with thin pockets coming on here to attack me. funny that none of you actually waited tables, yet you have such insight into what the job is likeenjoy being the cheap bastards that you are, it's a pretty accurate reflection of what you have to offer to the world[Edited on July 28, 2012 at 3:51 AM. Reason : eat a dick, nerds]
7/28/2012 3:45:47 AM
Servers are just like anyone else. Sometimes they have off days. Sometimes they don't want to be at work, or are feeling crappy. I'm sure everyone has felt this at least once in their life. So I usually give them the benefit of the doubt unless they are outlandishly rude to me. If I have enough money to go out and eat or go out and drink I also have enough money to tip. But if there is an autogratuity I don't tip over that. Autograt usually screws the server out of more money. But it really depends on the clientele you are serving.
7/28/2012 3:50:11 AM
no. it doesn't.if you'd actually waited tables you'd know that it's just not true at allauto grat is the only way to prevent an entire waitstaff from bolting each and every time they get shafted on a big partyyou retards think that getting stiffed is some rare thing. take a look at this thread. it's populated by bastards who do this sort of thing perpetually and feel okay about it
7/28/2012 3:53:36 AM
7/28/2012 4:03:00 AM
I've been waiting tables and bartending for maybe 8 years or so, so you can go suck a dick. I've never seen anyone "bolt" over being stiffed by a large party. It ruined their night, but they showed up the next day. Because frankly everyone on our staff needs a job, and our good nights always outweigh the bad nights. Shit happens, grow a backbone, either confront the table about it or go about your business. There is no doubt in my mind that autograt would drive our tips down. Usually on smaller tabs ($10 or less) I find I'll get %70-%100 percent, and then after that most people tip %20-%30 percent.[Edited on July 28, 2012 at 4:05 AM. Reason : ^^.]
