Hell, since there seems to be no more rules anyway, just pull a QB off of an NFL practice squad who didn't use all 4 years of eligibility and tell the NCAA to fuck offSounds impossible, but so did paying them at one point

Why would you do that when you can get a far superior player in lex thomas]

^^ I think that will probably happen based on the direction the basketball stuff is headed. But it will probably be a bit more rare in football -- they have a smaller window of time since they have the 3 years out of HS rule for the NFL draft. It seems like the one rule the NCAA is trying to keep intact through all of this stuff is the eligibility clock rule. So, as long as the guy on the NFL practice squad technically hasn't run out their 5 years to play 4, they will probably be allowed to play. Once the NIL/profit-share stuff got rolling, they were always going to lose the battle of trying to block players from going from pro to college. Hard to argue a player collecting 2mil a year in college isn't already a pro. So, to the courts it looks arbitrary and unfair to block some guy making 70k a year as a pro from coming back and playing college ball for 2mil. Add in the fact the NCAA had been carving out exceptions for the European leagues for years, and they're pretty cooked.[Edited on January 23, 2026 at 3:52 PM. Reason : .]
