not sure why you always want to blame a single player

that was a total team collapse

Admittedly, I’m a very casual hockey guy. But the Staal penalty seemed soft. Idk

It was a clear crosscheck that directly caused a turnover. They're gonna call it every single time.

There was a clear lack of discipline this whole series. No surprise that the captain took a bad penalty.

Not sure where the Canes go from here. They seem to do well enough in regular season but choke in playoffs. Lots of free agents so who knows if this was the last chance we had at a Cup for a while. Goalie is a clear weakness and has been for the last several postseason's. I know Anderson has good stats in regular season, but in the playoffs he just doesn't know how to turn it on and be dominant.

The announcers for all of the Hurricane's games both rounds had a clear bias for the New York teams.

Freddie let in way too many soft goal throughout. Rangers gave up 0-1 soft goals. and speaical teams continue to be a problem in the post season. firs the PK early that lost games and then the PP throughout that lost others.

non of our stars showed out and theirs did so do we have Stars. i say we have a lot of great pieces that work together, but no big time gamers. Would Fast and Pescie made a big difference. probably it saves one game.

but you play the first 2 periods and choke the 3rd. worst 3rd period all season for your life.

So with the lack of discipline and the lack of true big time gamers does this fall on GM/ownership or does it fall on coaching?

I love Brind'Amour but his contract is expired. Do you look for someone else to see if he can take the pieces that remain and the new pieces that get added to the next level? I know there were some shitty seasons before Rod so I know this is probably a non starter for most fans, but I think all options need to be explored.

I'd say a little of both. It's like they don't want to hurt people's feelings. this is the first year they actually did something at the deadline.

but if you look at the move i was still pretty conservative. they seem gun shy on making big moves.

but now this team is going to complete change. i think there a few core guys that good, but they have to go get better/higher skill.

More GM and Tom on players. Staal is a great leader, but lack of scoring on the 2nd line in playoffs is huge.

If you lose Rod, which i don't think happens, would be a setback i think. he needs higher skilled plays and leader that go score and put the team on their back.

This is a wild take. They traded for the biggest name at the deadline. In addition, they signed the highest profile free agent last off-season.

As a layperson, I thought 3rd period was just so much domination, the rangers always had it at the goal they wanted to shoot into

They deserved to win the game

They did some great things, but it didn’t work. But maybe instead of getting Evgeny Kuznetsov maybe get Max Pacioretty.

Would have been awesome to resign Vincent Trocheck. I know there lots of moving parts. But there Def a lot more moving parts this year.

Brind'Amour back is not a surprise, at the moment there really isn't anyone close to his level available.

Looks like Pesce is not going to come back. 2nd Line and defense need to be the keys addressed this offseason.

Defense will be fine, especially if they can re-sign Chatfield. Morrow will step in on the 3rd pair, then they just need to add a vet to play beside him. Waddell mentioned the possibility of bringing Nikishin over this offseason but that seems like an extremely slim chance of actually happening.

I think there will be multiple rookies on the opening day roster next year at forward, especially if they are able to sign Guentzel. Gotta make cap room somehow. Felix Unger Sorum was the last cut last year and Jackson Blake and Bradly Nadeau are both threats to make the squad. Will be interesting to see what they do with Jack Drury and Ryan Suzuki who are both RFAs and guys just adding to the logjam at the bottom 6 center spots. Wouldn't surprise me to see one of them get traded. Probably won't trade Kotkaniemi as he didn't play up to his contract this year and he'd cost a lot to move. Doubt they dabble in the high profile free agents like they did last year. Too many guys to re-sign this go round.
