HOLY SHIT:Sean Payton suspended one year. Mickey Loomis 8 game and $500,000 fine. Saints fined $500,000 and a second round pick in 2012 and 2012.
3/21/2012 12:53:54 PM
Sean Payton suspended for a year. Plus loss of draft picks.
3/21/2012 12:54:26 PM
wow, Goodell came down HARD on the Saints. I thought Payton would get a 3-4 game suspension at the most. I guess the Saints will just promote an assistant to be the interim?
3/21/2012 1:02:14 PM
Good to learn that allowing bounties is just as bad as vehicular manslaughter + DUI.
3/21/2012 1:03:22 PM
and what the hell are the Jets thinking by bringing Tebow in? The might as well make a separate Sportscenter everyday just to cover the Tebow, Rex Ryan, Mark Sanchez bullshit
3/21/2012 1:07:25 PM
^Its brilliant if the goal is to make sanchez look better
3/21/2012 1:08:18 PM
the Rams are fucked lolthey just hired Greg Williams in the off season, now despite the Rams not being involved in Bountygate or whatever its called, they no longer have a defensive coordinator
3/21/2012 1:11:49 PM
3/21/2012 1:19:36 PM
This is awesome. Goodell doesn't fuck around. Fuck the 'aints.
3/21/2012 1:23:16 PM
Tebow and Ryan dont exactly seem like two peas in a pod
3/21/2012 1:28:39 PM
the NFL needs to get rid of Goodell.... He's abusing his power. Let's recap what has happened under the Goodell regimeOff the top of my head:1.) Pro Bowl moved to the weekend before the Super Bowl in Miami2.) Lockout3.) Manipulating the cap to punish teams who took advantage of an uncapped year... Who got hurt by the Skins and Boys doing this? Neither one of them came close to sniffing the playoffs that year4.) Taking draft picks, suspending a HC for a year, and fines over something that probably happens throughout the entire league. I get that he is trying to draw a hard line, but players sexually harass and beat women and get off with lesser penalties..Never thought I would be actually siding with James Harrison
3/21/2012 1:33:02 PM
even if tebow doesn't play a down, he HAS to help out that locker room.also, LOL at payton. fuck that guy.
3/21/2012 1:33:09 PM
^^i hope your kiddingThe game is as strong as ever and he has to protect the product. I love how your username discredits one of your points by itself.
3/21/2012 1:36:48 PM
you're pretty dense if you don't see why he's doing what he's doing
3/21/2012 1:37:28 PM
dude, Goodell has been doing a fantastic job, not sure what the hell you are talking about.[Edited on March 21, 2012 at 1:38 PM. Reason : ^ precisely]

Oh you like the Cowboys, you must be an idiot rawr rawr rawrOkay, I'll give him moving the first round of the draft to Thursday night..., And I understand him trying to set a standard, but going after Payton for a year is the wrong way to do it... Go after Williams and banish him from the league if you want and suspend Payton for a few games. To suspend Payton for a year is excessive...V So, it's something to reward the players for a great year [Edited on March 21, 2012 at 1:50 PM. Reason : .]

3/21/2012 1:46:59 PM
The NCAA needs to take notes from Goodell. I still think 1 year is a little excessive.

3/21/2012 3:27:56 PM
Belichick gets fined $500K with no suspension for CHEATING...straight up CHEATING.And Payton loses a year for a bounty program he didnt even create..he just knew about it and didnt stop it. Huh?
3/21/2012 3:33:02 PM
Player Safety is the #1 issue facing the NFL right now. They are up to their fucking eyeballs in litigation due to concussions and retired players experiencing severe health issues-- having employees who encourage behavior (or turn a blind eye to it) that can lead to severe injuries to other employees is one of the worst things they can have happen.]
3/21/2012 3:45:17 PM
3/21/2012 3:49:31 PM
also i'm pretty sure people should know that you DO NOT lie to goodell. he will end you.
3/21/2012 3:54:12 PM
3/21/2012 3:59:08 PM
yep...Favre isn't gonna come back in 10 years and sue the NFL because the Patriots cheated

3/21/2012 8:27:09 PM
NFL players already get paid to hit/hurt other players, the bounty program was just extra money some got. Injuries won't stop just because the program is over... The punishment is a little harsh.
3/22/2012 12:17:50 AM
Nfl players get paid to tackle/block other players, not injure. Injuries are part of the game, yes. But the intent of the players shouldn't be to injure the other team. That's barbaric.
3/22/2012 12:26:41 AM
I wouldn't say our defense had a stellar record of injuring players--I'm not talking about season/career-enders, but I doubt we even landed guys on the following week's injury report at a significantly higher rate than any other team in the league.I think giving Payton such a harsh suspension was ridiculous, especially when former Gggggreggggg Williams players have gone on record (TV and in print) and said similar programs were in place at his previous coaching jobs. I think his "indefinite" suspension should last at LEAST 10 years now that Payton has gotten a one-year ban (I was previously in favor of a five-year ban, assuming Payton would miss half the season at most).St. Louis can actually hire a new defensive coordinator in a zero-sum situation (ie, Williams has never coached those guys), we have to find a replacement head coach (we'll probably promote from within, but still) AND a new assistant coach (Joe Vitt got a six-game suspension). I'm seeing Steve Spagnuolo and Pete Carmichael Jr. somehow serving those two capacities.[Edited on March 22, 2012 at 6:46 AM. Reason : _]
