A lot of these questions are answered in the commentary podcast:

^^^add to what he said that shooting lots of battle footage is expensive as shit

1/16/2006 1:17:18 PM
well if they ever plan on taking the storyline where they need to attack something, then they will need the pegasus. So it depends on where they want to storyline to go.

The battle between the Battlestars and the Base stars looked fan-fucking-tastic.After seeing space battles in starwars and star trek with lasers and shields and shit its really nice to have something that looks like it could be real.

This episode was ok. It felt like all rising action though. Roslin getting better miraculously was hardly a surprise...
1/22/2006 11:23:50 AM
I figured Baltar would go "evil" full on at some point.
1/22/2006 1:30:40 PM
SO basically if humans and cylons breed together you get a super species..............................
1/22/2006 1:31:02 PM
^the cylons are already super. humans are pretty much just bringing them down^^ i hope that's not the case. It would be very lame if his turning point is a gay little letter, and it would make him a less rounded character[Edited on January 22, 2006 at 1:52 PM. Reason : sdff]
1/22/2006 1:51:26 PM
^ I agree. He's such a fascinating character because you can't figure out whether or not he's more of a benefit or more of a threat.
1/26/2006 5:47:21 PM
that was cool.i thought this one would suck bc its not really relevant to any current plot archs....but its not bad
1/27/2006 10:48:08 PM
I didnt expect them to keep the black market the way it was. very kewl

That episode was meh. All the episodes dealing with internal politics are boring. Tom zerick is a tiresome character.
1/28/2006 8:10:19 PM
I cant wait to see what Mrs President has enstore for Baltar regarding her vision.
1/29/2006 5:48:28 PM
yeh but they like to bring back richard hatch...because you know without him they wouldn't have a remake to begin with.

hmm, fuck
1/29/2006 7:10:20 PM
this episode was much better than the one last week.I do miss the frenetic pace of season 1, though. In season 1, as soon as they solved something, a new, bigger crisis came a long for the next episode. The impending sense of doom was nice.
2/4/2006 12:57:02 PM
yea....this one was good....kinda confusing at the begining
2/4/2006 1:01:33 PM
I think they realized that there was no way they could keep up the fast-paced plotline without having the whole story wrapped up in a very short period of time.I dunno how I feel about that, though. Having a very good 3 seasons where everything gets wrapped up without too many plotlines is probably preferrable to me, instead of dragging it out across 8 seasons.
2/4/2006 1:14:46 PM
^I agree
2/4/2006 1:31:01 PM
Its one thing to have a really good series for three seasons, but then you have nothing....If you go into internal plotlines with all the main characters like they are doing it allows you to have a deeper understanding of all those involved and allows for the series to extend itself in length. I am a big fan of many seasons as long as the plot doesnt go into PURE filler material.Does anyone actually remember if anyone mentioned exactly how long it would take to get to earth?
2/4/2006 1:35:22 PM
^thing is, what we are seeing IS like filler material. The pacing of the first season is a LOT better dramatically than this internal politics BS. It's undeniable that a show with a planned end is going to be better because they have a clearer understanding of what needs to happen. Furthermore, it lets them jam pack the A material into every episode instead of trying to ration it.A planned ending doesn't preclude last night's episode, either.[Edited on February 4, 2006 at 1:42 PM. I hate to agree with the general sentiment, and I was even willing to get over 1 non-arc episode (last week), but 2 in a row from this show in particular just feels like a let down keep that arc moving, as that's what got us all so into this show in the first place
2/4/2006 3:07:44 PM
You guys must have hated star trek THG
2/4/2006 4:08:53 PM
THG?
2/4/2006 4:56:18 PM
you guys must have hated a show that was completely different from BSG!!
2/4/2006 6:48:20 PM
that's the poblem with lumping both these shows into the genre "sci-fi." Star trek TNG was science fiction that was as much about the scifi geeky stuff as it was about the characters at times. In BSG, the scifi elements are secondary to the politics, drama, and characters. And I'm not saying either is a bad way to go, but they're so radically different that any comparison is almost fruitless.[Edited on February 4, 2006 at 7:51 PM. Reason : ]

this was another great episode.
2/5/2006 12:39:18 AM
This was a pretty good episode. It doesn't concern the main story plot, but it does go in to the psychology of some of the main characters... plus, there's nothing that says it doesn't have to do anything with the main story line (someone posted a spoiler a while back, and I think one of the past 2 episodes is at least partially related to it).
2/5/2006 2:00:48 AM
i liked this episode, im kinda glad it was filler materialit was pretty intersting to learn about scar
2/5/2006 2:21:02 AM
I am relating the two because in TNG there was no overall storyline other than they were exploring. You could miss any episode at any given time and miss out on absolutely nothing than some random event occurring. And since you guys obviously hate any type of filler you would not like TNG.
2/5/2006 1:35:05 PM
it was typical of older television shows to not have a large story arc because it was assumed that audiences wouldn't get it and wouldn't stick around for itsome newer shows have realized that this isn't the case (24, lost, firefly (RIP), babylon 5), and I personally prefer a show with a larger story arc even if there are some "filler" eps
2/5/2006 3:06:46 PM
^^ apples and orangesTNG wasnt a slingshot series. Things were stable in the universe. Here the situation of mankind is completely different. The premise of the show isnt a spaceship, its humans on the run being hunted by machines. [Edited on February 5, 2006 at 4:07 PM. Reason : -]

ok ok forget it, I was just pointing at filler, I guess I suck at english and should just die.....with acid

if you say so
2/5/2006 6:16:25 PM
Hey quick question:I have never seen any of the BSG series or movies. New or the original ones. I'm really interested in getting into it. I wanna know what to Netflix in though. Should I just start with the new series Miniseries, or do I need to get the 78 Theatrical release first? I just don't wanna get one here and realize I'm outta fucking sequence.Similiar thread but I'm gonna do BSG and Stargate SG-1 at the same time. I've got the original Stargate movie, so I just start with Series season 1 episode one, right?
2/7/2006 9:23:13 PM
start with the FIRST DVD of the 78 series. Then the new miniseries, then the new series.
2/7/2006 9:34:48 PM
So I should just watch the 78 series DVD Disc 1 only with "Saga of a Star World", and then get the new miniseries and then start with season one of the new series, correct?[Edited on February 7, 2006 at 9:51 PM. Reason : ]
2/7/2006 9:50:18 PM
Just start with the new stuff. It doesn't assume any knowledge of the 78 stuff. I've done fine without it.
2/7/2006 9:51:46 PM
Ok, so don't worry about the original series. Hmm, not confusing at all around here.
2/7/2006 9:52:40 PM
^^ no, he has to watch the 78 series first disk to realize how fucking stupid the original was. That way, if he ever meets one of these fags who likes the old one but hates the new one, he can just go ahead and punch them in the face.
