I was hoping that "car seat" somehow meant something else.

You should post pics of it in use.

To remind me why I don't want kids.

Finally installed a water temp gauge in the S13 after all these years.

Started mocking up a dumptube that exits down by the framerail... But then I got lazy and decided to stick with the hoodless pointing-to-the-moon dump for a while more.

Bought a nice spare set of stock axles for dirt cheap.

Got a bunch of tires mounted.

Bought yet another set of Starion wheels.

Going to get more tires mounted this afternoon.

Quote :
"Prepared the Integra for it's longest road trip in 5 years (NJ) yesterday."

Car shrugged off the trip up north like nobody's business - as it should, after all the work it's had done recently. Still, I'm a bit in awe of the engineering that went into that GS-R. 4,000-4500 rpm engine speed sustained for two 7 hour trips on an engine that's all original (no internal work ever) with just shy of 311,000 miles on it. That I got 31 mpg going 80 mph with the windows down makes it all the more impressive (original EPA rating of 21/26 23 combined)

Now, on to repairing the interior water leak...

I don't think I could stomach a drive so long when I had a much nicer vehicle available to do it in.

^^ GD @ that gas mileage - that's awesome

^ I'm with you there. I would putter around town on a beater all day, but I'd definitely use the much nicer car for an extended trip. Not that I don't understand why you'd want to take the beater/DD, but still.

I understand the points, quite valid. Plus the Integra needs new rear speakers - one's buzzing a bit. So it was difficult for the stereo to overpower the wind noise at times, so rocking out was a bit tougher

I just drive too much; don't want to put more than 10k a year on the Porsche, and in the 17 months I've had the Cayman I've put 17k on the odometer. I drove it up to NJ last August and there's a good chance I'm going back there again this coming August...and will almost certainly be driving the Cayman. Now...this upcoming weekend's trip to southwest VA....more Teggy time!

if you assume you're paying ~300/month for your car, that's like $3/each month per mile, not counting for the added cost of depreciation and consumables. I hope it sees track time

Sold M5 for 30% profit after year of driving. No better car to flip. Rocking ES330 now, it is amazing how relaxingly boring this car is...it completely rests you up after a long day at work.

Test drove yesterday modded E60 V10 with rare 6-speed. Not much torque, but 500hp situated in last 3k of rpm range is intoxicating. I am more afraid of this car maintenance than 996TT. Choices choices...

How was the transmission? I heard that, as far as factory jobs go, the 6 speed manual was a real hack job; that BMW only made it available at the last minute because people in the US were howling for it.

It feels no different than any other modern stick shift bimmer. In fact, much nicer than long-throws of stock E39 M5. Similar to E46 M3 in throws and notchiness (it's no Honda though) One of the things that brought bad news when 6-speed was announced in E60 M5 was the fact you couldn't turn off traction control completely unless you go with SMG. They later fixed this with software updates, so it's not an issue anymore. It's seriously impressive car and this particular example came with extended red leather with black sapphire exterior. It was quite stunning in person and definitely a rare combo.

It sucked badly the first time I did it to change the converter months ago, but this time it was actually fairly easy. I got it out and replaced in about 6 hours (last time I started at 4pm and didn't have the car running until 4am) . Honestly the hardest part is removing the starter on my car

replaced my leaky #8 braided oil cooler lines with some new nylon lines. Removed a/c condenser and crammed the oil cooler into its place. I then wired the a/c fan to turn on whenever the rad fan does.

what a PITA it was but hey, no oil leaks today!

I need to replace the brakes on the s2000, I suppose. I've rebuilt a motor (somehow), but never done brakes. How much of a pain in the ass is it?

^ Good luck. I can't imagine labor is going to be pleasant.

G/F and I got a '95 YJ today. Installed a hardtop and full doors (the windows on the half doors were torn and the soft top needs replacing).

WE'VE GOT A JOOP! (because the "e"s look like "o"s ) Need to get hardware to mount mirrors on window frame...

^ Stop being a wussy and just do it already son! It's not bad. Bleeding is super easy, especially if you have speed bleeders. Don't need two people to bleed brakes with speed bleeders. pads and rotors are super easy.

Big Red:
- Cleaned air filter.... noticed red/orange gummy stuff all over passenger side of engine bay...went straight to basement and retrieved that water pump I bought the same time I replaced my radiator....shoulda, woulda, coulda.
- installed water pump. went ahead and put on the spare serpentine belt I bought too.
- oil change.
- added some refrigerant to AC
- rotated tires

BlakLung:
- proceeded with sawing all easily trimmed components on the front end - dropped 6# without touching the bumper...that's next.

I filed yet another insurance claim on my Insight, this time against my own insurance due to a hit and run in a parking lot.

This is the 3rd fucking time someone has hit my car in the last 3.5 months.

Took apart the passenger door yesterday and replaced the window regulator and woofer speaker in the Porsche. Wasn't as difficult as I would have thought (and lining up the glass was far easier than I would have thought) but still, the very first trim piece I removed resulted in snapping off a plastic tab (from the larger more integral part of the car from which it were attached), GD it

Taking her to a collision shop this week for some PDR work; fucking tree branch fell and dented the rear fender during last Wednesday's thunderstorm

This was this past weekend: 2.5RS: Fixed a cracked thermostat housing, drained and filled coolant, changed oil and filter, swapped to rally tires, tried to repair a broken weld in the header pipe without a welder, drove to VIR, (placed 2nd overall out of 38 drivers with the car sounding like a bumbling log truck), drove home, swapped back to street tires. Still need to have the hole welded because it blew my temporary repair out the first time I stepped onto the gas.

M5: got O2 sensor bungs re-welded Saturday morning (stress cracks, one pre-cat sensor broke out). still need to buy and change out the sensor.

Changed one pad/rotor on the Insight in the dark. Said fuck it on the other one...I'll wait until tomorrow.

I THINK they may be original, with 129,500 miles. Definitely haven't been changed since I got it with 66k.

If anyone saw some asshole pushing his Porsche on South Saunders St last night at 630pm that was me. Pushed the fuel range a bit too far

In unrelated news, replacing the engine air filter looks like a 2 hour job, at minimum

About 400 feet. I had just left the gym, for a leg workout too lol Right when I started to lose steam, about 100 ft from the BP station 2 random guys showed up from different directions and helped me push it the rest of the way. No chance in hell I could have turned the car and pushed it up the incline leading to the pumps alone.

Got pretty lucky. Whole ordeal only cost me about 15 minutes.

And my God, did my legs feel the burn.

I had the steering pump and rack replaced in my Integra back in 2007. Not sure offhand how much it cost, but I might have the receipts. It was definitely a 4 figure repair (though there might have been some other minor stuff...).

Just changed out the starter on my '05 Acura TL. Saved about $140 in labor at least. Did it once on my prior '97 CL. Definitely more of a pain in the ass on the '05 because you had to get up under the vehicle whereas with the '97 everyone could be done from the top.
