Well, since your posting style and word choices frequently detract from my enjoyment of this website, I suppose I do. There might be a few others out there, but if nothing else, you have demonstrated you will not be deterred or redirected from your single-minded crusades.

Everything you post from someone or something you like is God's gift to humanity, and everything you post about someone or something you dislike is the worst thing in history. It's exhausting.

• Grandiosity: An exaggerated, unfounded sense of self-importance, superiority, and uniqueness.
• Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD): A mental health condition marked by inflated self-importance, a constant need for admiration, a belief that one's views or rules are uniquely correct, and a lack of empathy for others. You can read more about the clinical signs on the Mayo Clinic Narcissistic Personality Disorder Overview.
• Delusions of Grandeur: When this sense of superiority crosses into a fixed, rigid belief that is detached from reality (such as believing one has special powers, divine status, or supreme authority), it is classified in clinical settings as a delusion of grandeur.

I’ve never had an issue with tgl3s posting style

I think we can all agree hotlinking YouTube videos to individual letters and words in your posts as part of the point you’re trying to make is the most obnoxious posting style on tww right now though amirite

lol u rite. I rarely do the individual letter thing tho. I am making an effort to be less obnoxious in how I cite and reference supporting arguments and relevant sources of information and perspectives.

Y’all, I think I've finally figured it out: tgl is a dying website's Temu Hemingway. It has all the short sentences and none of the iceberg.

My previous comment on TGL3's posting style was not fair and was uncalled for. I'm going to say he caught me wrong during a moment of work stress.

A leopard can't change its spots.

But a chameleon can change its skin.

My simple request is to tone it down just a little and stop trying to impress or convince people with the strength of your personal convictions. If you want me to start keeping receipts and recording your greatest superlatives, I will, but this seems counterproductive to a healthy user base and generally mean-spirited.

A lot of what I read also seems disingenuous because it uses turns of phrase I never encounter in real life, and rather seem like something that was seen somewhere else and parroted. ( ) I mean, I guess all written and spoken word is this way to some degree. But isn't this one of the things we criticize about AI? Are these really your words? Is the way you post on here the way you speak in real life?

The crazy thing is I agree with you on probably around 90% of separable issues, but your delivery needs some work to meaningfully convince others. It doesn't hurt my feelings at all when you call out bad behaviors by public figures. You just don't seem like a real person to me sometimes.

I wanted to be happy this week, and overall, I am. But we don't need heelfan's right wing trolling replaced with your left wing version.

And look, I'll readily admit I probably annoy some people. I'm going to work on calming down this weekend.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Cool, man.

I think everyone has different reasons to post, I used to think that anyone making a political point orange argument was hoping to convince others of their viewpoint, it's certainly the main reason behind most of my points.

My reasons to post in TSB
1) I'M RIGHT LISTEN TO ME
2) social (ism???)
3) the part of my brain that is addicted to a debate
4) to help inform others of something (maybe a subset of 1?)
5) ....fun?? Sometimes?

Like when someone says something you disagree with and you respond in disagreement, here or in life, what is your motivation to respond instead of just carrying on?

I don't know I guess it just doesn't make sense to me to tell someone they are wrong but then say you're not trying to convince them they are wrong, maybe I'm missing something in semantics somewhere. Carry on I guess.

Anyway back to our regularly scheduled programming

Quote :
"Q: I’m told that Vivek Ramaswamy left you a congratulatory phone call. Have the two of you spoken?

Governor-elect Amy Acton: We can’t normalize behavior like this. It was so beyond the pale, so no, I have no intention of speaking to him. Leaders’ words matter and we need to hold folks accountable. "

Genuine question, for the Kanye fan club: if you're not trying to persuade anyone, what's the goal of hoping someone sees something outside their bubble? Isn't that the definition of persuading?

^^^^If you listen to the interview, he says immediately after this he is unsure if defunding would actually end the conflict as the Trump Admin just robs whatever pentagon bank account is needed in any given moment. Sargent floats the question in several different ways and every time Smith is like “we gotta see what happens, I can’t guarantee anything.”

So yea, unprecedented and extra-constitutional times we live in.

Persuading is effective either for or against. I guess you can say maybe he is persuading people away from left ideas. Maybe he is a GOP plant?

Seriously, it is how you flesh out what you think. Reason IS a slave to the passions. But with debate you can make an attempt to see the foundations of what you and your "opponent" believe.

I'm definitely trying to persuade people, I'm not sure why that seems to be a bad thing. Isn't that the entire point of political speech? A candidate on the pulpit, a pundit on a news show, a protester on the street, all trying to persuade people.

As to why I'm interested, it just feels strange to me to use energy to argue but don't care about the result of the argument, why bother. So I'm curious to get to the motivation. We're humans, we have reasons for everything we do.

to me, all of those examples are much, much different than posting on a message board. that’s the intended goal of all three. I don’t think of posting on a message board as anywhere close to that.

I suppose I do like the back-and-forth. a lot of the pushback I give is to those who I don’t think are posting in earnest

^^I don't think he provided an explanation until ^ that's why I kept asking.

I also don't think I ever said his motivations were "bad" or even "odd" necessarily, but maybe "surprising" that someone spends that much time arguing without a care of the result. ^ saying you just like the back and forth and/or trying to push others to be more honest helps me to understand. Thanks.

People just find you interesting!

It's more just to understand where other people are coming from. Like the rights conversation there's a ton of nuance and different things you can mean. As a curious person sometimes I'm thinking through something and posting stream of consciousness and other times just trying to see what you mean.

Apparently we both like the back-and-forth. The difference is that I actually responded to you in earnest about the WA vote, and you've basically ignored it twice.

What whole deal?

Conversing with other people using the written word in an attempt to reach greater mutual understanding?

People don't want pieces in isolation, or with a one-liner superlative statement. They want to know what you think and why. You yourself say you want your position to be recorded, but when probed, it's often left dangling.

Oh, that is internet shorthand for "laughing out loud", but not always meant in the literal sense.

It's meant to convey appreciation for something of a humorous nature. You've even had a few like that recent burn on JD, but strictly speaking, I don't find you among the funnier posters here.
