I honestly don't understand how anyone could say he won the debate. This is a debate for the president of the US. Trump literally almost never says a single thing of substance. On any issue, he says it's terrible, it's Hilary and Obama's fault, then he proceeds to say that he could fix it and make it "tremendous", but never gives any explanations or details of how. You just have to "believe him". Sure, Hillary is a crook, she's slimey, she's two-faced, but she actually knows what she's talking about. Trump consistencly makes it clear that he has no idea what he's talking about.

why would yoy commit to accepting the results of an election before it happens against a party who just rigged their primary?

normally id understand what you guys are ssying but this is a special case. if he committed to accepting the results and was clearly cheated, he would have no ground to challenge the result.

thats like asking a football fan to say the refs called next sundays game even

i didn't watch this debate, so i have no idea who won

debates are about appearances, no new issues or positions are revealed in debates. debates exist to feed a 24-hour media cycle and commentators who will talk about who scored a hit and who won like its some kind of battle.

ok, i realize that, and i don't expect any real substance to come out of the debate. i'm just saying, hilary makes it's clear that she's smart, knows what the job entails, and can actually intelligently discuss the issues. donald makes it clear that he's half-crazy, doesn't understand what a president does (or what senators do), and can't form a coherent thought on any of the issues. But he did interrupt hilary several times and say "wrong", he did come across as strong and macho, and he did bring-up most of hillary's "scandals", so I guess that means he won in some people's eyes. but most of what came out of his mouth was rambling, incoherent gibberish (i'd like to see more of his "answers" in writing, some of it was hilarious).

and debates were around long before the 24-hour news cycle. i guess our politics have devolved to this.

and yeah, duh, debates existed before 24-hour media. they were also a lot different, they actually had substance.

This is what I don't understand. He is supposed to be a businessman, but he has done nothing to try to sell himself or his policies. He has spent all of his time in the spotlight attacking other people. It is baffling.

The guy was involved in NYC real estate since the 70's (and his father the 50's) where the price per sqft has gone from $25 to over $1200. As long as you had money, which he did, it was essentially idiot proof.

He actually sucked at real estate. He was better at being a loud mouth asshole, which made him a good promoter and got him a TV show where he pretended to be a businessman. Having zero scruples also helped him make money.

The little things that Trump says that make me laugh are the best. When he was talking about the Clinton Foundation and said no one in Haiti wants help from them because he was in Little Haiti for an hour.

Lol at thinking the citizens of one of the poorest nations on earth give one single fuck about the optics of the Clinton Foundation. They are just happy to be getting 1999 Knicks NBA Champion shirts.

All he does is try to sell himself...as for his policies, he'd have to have some to sell before he could try.

^ He does not sell himself aside from saying things like "I am the best for this...". He doesn't provide an intriguing statement about himself that is supported by facts. He just yells at other people over their own original ideas.

He is Frosh, basically.

I can't believe HRC complained about "violence at Trump rallies" the same week it was revealed the DNC and her campaign were organizing to have protestors start violence at his rallies.

I don't think her shit-faced grin helps her as a response to valid criticism either, maybe the sarcastic laughter works if Trump is rambling like in the first debate, but not when her corrupt shit gets called out.

There are plenty of valid reasons to not vote Trump, but you leftists pick the weakest media narratives and act like they should be material when making a decision. Or you pick some that may be valid, but pale in comparison to the problems with Clinton.

-Trump is a "racist" because he called illegal immigrants rapists
-Trump bragged about grabbing pussy so he is a rapist
-Trump fat-shamed a fat model that gained weight

Making such weak arguments only reveals the media's influence on your perception, and causes further entrenchment of Trump supporters because they see such weak arguments as stemming from a media smear campaign rather than objective concern. In fact the only valid criticisms I have seen have come from conservatives.

Honestly, if you think any of the above are worse than:

-Paying protestors to incite violence at opponents rallies
-Using the position of Secretary of State to solicit bribes
-Destroying evidence post subpoena and using political connections to escape the law
-Admitting to "conspire to create an unaware and compliant citizenry"
-Rigging the "democratic" national convention against Bernie
-Being in bed with the press (e.g Politicio sending DNC stories for review)
-Admitting to having a public and private position

...but we all know what the press gives attention to, and we all know most of you will simply think what the press tells you to think.

^^^how about because he's shown time and time and time again that he is completely unfit to be president, he has no idea what the job entails, he has no real policies, and he really doesn't have a clue about what he's talking about most of the time? isn't that enough? and then there's also the things you list.

This is what I'm talking about.

For everything you listed, either:
-It isn't true or it's an opinion
-Clinton is way worse on that same issue

Or most Clinton supporters don't actually care about the issues. If they did, they wouldn't vote for someone who admitted they have a public and private position on every issue.

Have you watched the debates, or anytime he's asked anything by a reporter or anyone else, do you really think he gives coherent answers or that he really understands any of the issues? Do you really think it's an opinion that he usually has no idea what he's talking about besides a few talking points that he repeats over and over? I honestly can't understand how anybody could watch those debates and think "This guy really knows his stuff, that was a well-thought out answer. I could see that guy doing a good job as the President of the United States."

Again, Hilary may be full of shit, but it's at least obvious that she usually knows what she's talking about, and she can intelligently discuss the issues.

and it really an opinion that he he has no policy positions? seriously, his answers to almost every issue is "It's a disaster, it's Hilary and Obama's fault, I can fix it and it will be tremendous, believe me." And then he rarely gives any details to how he would accomplish that.

Is this a reference to the email below?

https://wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/3599

If so, the quote strikes me as a somewhat tongue-in-cheek comment about the state of politics in general:

Quote :
"And as I've mentioned, we've all been quite content to demean government, drop civics and in general conspire to produce an unaware and compliant citizenry. The unawareness remains strong but compliance is obviously fading rapidly. This problem demands some serious, serious thinking - and not just poll driven, demographically-inspired messaging."

You are judging the candidates on their effectiveness, which I agree Clinton is a much more effective, calculating politician (obviously).

I'm judging on agenda/intent. If Clinton is effective but has an agenda that is not in the best interests of the American people, I'd rather her get hit on the head with a rock and go into a coma for her POTUS term.

^^ Fair point, still depressing
