3= high alert
2= prep for strikes ( or somthing)
1= nuclear attack/war

3: prelim preps for war
2: get totally ready for war
1: actually at war

there's also terrorist threatcons - similar, but more defensive in nature

We're at ThreatCon Delta. That means that everything's supposed to be searched on military bases and only mission essential personnel and vehicles are allowed in.

Thanks Solinari. As such, we've had to all take off our uniforms for a few days as a precaution. Although cadets and midshipmen are probably last on someone's hit list, any person in uniform is a likely target. All servicepeople going to and from post will be in civvies as well.

The best thing anyone here can do is to DONATE BLOOD. The Red Cross is closed for today, but call 1-800-give-life to set up an appointment.

LEt me clarify: We're at TREATCON DELTA. That's a lot different than DefCon, unless something's happened when I've been in class. Threatcon refers to base security, which has been stepped up to the highest level, considering all that's happened. DefCon refers to the nation's military posture, which is considerably different.

I think people are confusing ThreatCon and DefCon and substituting Delta for 4 (4th letter...makes sense) and coming up with DefCon 4. Again, I've been in class, so I'm a little fuzzy on this, but I don't think we're at DefCon 4.
