Some people think his books are real boring and stuff, but this guy knows his shit, bottom line. He didn't exactly predict this, but the shit he writes comes damn close to things that happen later on. This wasn't the first time that it was Deja Vu or reality paralleling something he wrote. But yea Mav, I read my first Clancy (Red Storm Rising) back in 4th grade and read every one since.

Damn, Mav. I was thinking exactly that. I forget which book it is now, but it's the one set right before Executive Orders. That's what all this reminds me of. It's like something out of a Clancy novel. The Joint Cheifs of Staff, the President, and I think some congressman are killed, along with the Capitol Building being destroyed. I remember thinking, something like this can't happen, but today had convinced me otherwise.

Yea, what would be bad is if we raided bin Laden's camps and found a couple computers set up with a yoke system and running Flight Sim. But yea, you can fly a 757 either in the full game or in a free download.

Yeah Mav I was thinking the same exact thing. Debt of Honor was one of the best books I ever read....and now it's really eerie because its as if it's happening for real. Not only were there Aircraft crashes into American symbols that had the chance to decapitate our federal government but also duplicates the potential economical disaster that Japan initiated with the destruction of the Stock Exchange and mass sell-off of US Bonds. When the markets re-open if we see Asian countries massively selling off American issues be very afraid of where this could be going.

Lol, Matt I know, but I just meant these things are getting more and more realistic. You can use FlightSim2000 for the ground school part of getting your pilots license. I learned a lot about flying from when I used to fly the older ones when I was little. But it is conceivable that one could learn some of the problems of flying and actually practice the run on there with a pretty good idea of reference points and such.

Also this isn't the only thing that is getting very close to real life physics. Many professional Nascar drivers actually practice by racing the newest Nascar game on the PC, Nascar 4. They say with a wheel and all that it is frighteningly realistic. Dale Jr. even used it to try and make up for his lack of road course experience before Sears Point and Watkins Glen by training extensively on these courses on the game. So its not too unheard of these days.

Tom Clancy was interviewed by the CIA after Red October. They wanted to know where he got his story. They though is was too close to this mission:

Haha Mav, that is pretty freaky that I said that and it really happened! I always imagined it was a possibility and how I would have done it, but wow.

Yea I have read about and watched shows on that mission. Its crazy how they did it right in front of everybodys nose and nobody had a clue. Covering it up as a Hughes Deep Drilling ship was brilliant. But the failure of the rear section of the claw destroyed much of the ship sadly. They taped the burial at sea of the 8 men that were recovered. So I am 99% sure the conspiracy theories that they lied about losing the rear section are just extreme paranoia. Makes for quite an interesting story about the influence the CIA has/had.

And yes, Tom has been interviewed several different times about his books. The similarites between his writings and things have really happened or his future predictions are frightening. But he never takes any confidential information, and has in fact turned it down. All his info he gets is public.
