Do you all think the US won't release what it knew in advance because it knew nothing??? Or because it knew something and is embarrassed that they didn't stop it???? I mean, I wonder how the FAA knew that the flight from Boston had drastically changed courses and was on it's way to NY, so they even cleared the air space....and yet no one shot the plane down or did anything???? I dunno...too many things are suspicious...

I would've thought that there would be anti-aircraft guns at the Penatgon, like at the White House, to take care of kamikaze terrorists.

My mom works for Delta, and they've been told to watch out for certain ethnic groups b/c someone made a threat on the US commercial airlines ... they even had a poster up in the break room with what to look for, key names, etc. ... evedently, that was not good enough. But they knew something was up, just helpless to defend it I guess

The Pentagon is less than a mile from Reagan National Airport; I think even if they saw a plane coming in their direction, they wouldn't have any degree of certainty whatsoever that the plane was headed for the Pentagon until it's too late.

what do u mean u wonder how they knew that the plane drastically changed direction? They use radars. Hell you can even track the plane on the internet for the airliners website. Even if they had gunships in NYC would they really have shot down an airliner with a 100 passengers on it without knowing for sure what was going on?

i am from DC and i know that as for the planes into the pentagon...there is a strict rule than NO AIRCRAFT is allowed near the pentagon and is supposed to be shot down immediately...no ifs, ands, or buts.....obviously procedure wasn't followed...

my guess is that they just didnt have enough time to get anything going from the time that the airplane made its dramatic turn to DC and the time it crashed...how long would it take to get something together to shoot down a plane?

From what I heard from a friend (take that as a inaccurate source)...

That the defenses at the Pentagon did initiate, Phalynx (antimissle system), and AA missles were fired, and hit the plane... It was headed for the main section of the pentagon, the defenses diverted it and blow most of it to bits before it hit the Pentagon, hence the lack of complete destruction...

But a 767 or whatever it was is quite larger than any missle or jet the thought they'd be defending against, I can imagine a Phalynx cannon won't tear apart a 767 very quickly...

We have a lot of questions about whats going on, but lets not worry about that yet...

At any rate, I think that one of the problems with intelligence sometimes is that there is far too much information gathereed and not enough analysts to make sense of what's going on.

Although, from what I've been hearing this was a complete bolt from the blue, and that the intelligence community did not know what was coming. Then again, I doubt the intelligence community would disclose that information to the media right now, so that's just speculation right now.
